Christ’s Church is Catholic. Did you know that "Catholic" comes from a compound of two Greek words: “kato” = according to, and “holos” = the one? Christ’s Church is for all, and all are one: the Body of Christ. It is like speaking the name “Jesus”: Christ’s name was Yeshua, not Jesus. But we say Jesus because it came to us through the Greek language, which is what the New Testament was written in. The same goes for the word “catholic”.

Jesus promised, "I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18), and only the Catholic Church has existed since the time of Jesus. Every other Christian church is an offshoot of the Catholic Church. The Eastern Orthodox churches broke away from unity with the pope in 1054. The Protestant churches were established during the Reformation, which began in 1517. Only the Catholic Church existed in the tenth century, in the fifth century, and in the first century, faithfully teaching the doctrines given by Christ to the apostles, omitting nothing. The list of popes can be traced back to Peter himself, the first pope. Here is the list:

You are such a ignorant, I am tired to say how History and reality is but here we go again once more:

Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus the Christ or Yeshua, NEVER during his life established a "church". He stabled knowledge of the truth for become more like God. He was and keep being the greatest Human (if he can be called human, cause he was more that a human) ever on earth.

When He gone, his disciples keep teaching the gospel of Jesus, and (as I hope you know) there was a huge conflict between the followers of Jesus (Christians) and the pagans. When Peter (Jesus disciple) was arrested and carried to Roma to be killed by the government, He also convinced many people to be Christians. So it started a biggest conflict between Christians and Pagans in Roma.

So Constantine, the actual emperor of Roma in those times watching that the religious conflict was dividing Roma, He decided to create a religion to unify the empire and have control of everything again. So He called the congress, the elite of the wise people and the government to to the good now "consil of Siena", where they changed the bible, and re-organized a new religion, the catholic church. Catholic come from the greek adjective "καθολικός", meaning "general" or "universal"; A universal religion to control everything and keep everyone happy, no more conflict and no more division, and little by little the new catholic church were aggregating pagan traditions to carry more pagan members. there is where come the adoration of little figures, "saints", images, the crux, Christmas and many others pagan traditions.

So because the History and facts can't lie, the catholic church is not and never was the religion that Jesus Christ established when he came.

Sorry for tell you the truth, but also I don't think that the adoration of figures, the crusades, the saint' inquisition, the pedophilia and doctrine of demos as celibacy, are things that come from God or Jesus.

Even the scriptures talk about about it, (apoc 18).You better find out the truth, and if aren't hypocrite, get out of there soonest as possible and find the light.

Jesus never had a home of His own after He began His ministry, and He washed the feet of His Disciples. The Pope has the Vatican for a home, and people kiss his ring. Respectfully, I would like some help reconciling the difference in the way Christ (and in fact Peter, and the rest of the Apostles) were treated versus the way the pope is treated by his followers. The way you pronounce Jesus is somewhat moot, since we now have the bible in virtually every language, and He loves to have His people call Him by His name in any language. The Jews have always called Him Yeshua, as would many Mideastern languages. The translation of Peter is Petro, movable rock, not Petra, which in the Greek of the day translated to large boulder implying not able to be moved. This comes from the common use of classic Greek writers of the two words two thousand years ago when the two words meant more than the more recent usage of masculine and feminine. This is the only time that Peter was referred to in that form of the name. You really out to check the more accurate Greek translation of the language used at the time in question. Over the centuries, the use of the two words has almost reversed from the original Greek. I think you know I am not courting a Best Answer here, but if people would begin to dig deep and cross reference many sources, historically and linguistically instead of using a biased church site, ( RCC or Protestant,) we would see more unity sooner, if we want to open our ears. Take your translation, or more likely RCC footnotes, to an atheist professor who teaches Greek if you want an unbiased answer. They would have no reason to give you less than a correct translation.
FYI, I am not one of those Christians that tell others they are going to hell because of their denomination, as I believe many are coming into the fold from all faiths before the end. I am willing to call anyone sister or brother that is a follower of Christ, which is what Peter called Him in the verse you refer to: Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God. I also call many that are not believers by the same endearment, because I am not arrogant enough to believe I have a lock on all truth, or know who He has chosen for His own. I am still learning.

It must be nice to be as smart as you.

Oh........by the way......the Orthodox Churches did not change the creed, nor did any of them try to illegally claim supremacy over the others the way Rome did.

The Orthodox Churches have kept the religion true to how the blessed Apostles made it, while the Roman Church went off to build a political empire.

John-Paul II understood this and made noble overtures to the Orthodox Churches in an effort to bring us back together, even going so far as to publicly confess the errors of the Roman Catholic Church and ask for forgiveness.
He was a great Pope for this reason.

I don't want to bicker with Catholics when we should all be united in Christ, but some Catholics really get under my skin with this arrogant, proud swaggering.

Maybe we should try to concentrate on the message of Christ instead of insisting that everyone else is screwed up.

I know you don't want to hear this, but you know it's true.

Jesus said the church is not a physical church it is spiritual. Where you have 2 believers you have Jesus and the church. The church is all believers in Christ no matter what denomination they may be. You do not go to heaven just because you are a certain denomination. The bible preachers against denominations.

Do not say that I am of Apollos or I am of paul. The church does not have a name.

Someday it may dawn on you that Catholics do not pray to figurines or idles. These objects are simply focal points to help people direct the energy of prayer.

Like it or not the Catholic Church is the original church of the Christians who struggled through the horrible days when Christians were demonized by other religions and were thrown to the lions.

Have you new Christians no respect for the bravery of the early Christians?

The real problem here is, of course, is that it is all error. There is no God. There was no miracle in Bethlehem.

Christianity began with the Catholic Church true but you would have to wonder if they have taken it in the direction that Jesus wanted us to.

Dawn- Jesus Him self said to Peter "You are the rock upon which I build my church." That was the beginning of Popes Something that Jesus Him self started. And you don't know much about Catholicism if you think that we worship Statues. I wonder if you have a Crucifix in your house and if you do why???? Because it represents Christ to you, as do the picture of any of your family members, especially those that have gone before. That's what the representation of the saints do for us, Remind us of their connection to us and to Christ, that is what Saints and others like them mean to us. Before you make general statements find out the reality first.

If you look at the history of the Catholic church, you will find it was started in 33 AD but centuries after that.

Peter was not the rock, the rock was Peter's confession that Christ was the son of God. "...flesh and blood has not revealed this to you..." Revealed what, that his name was Peter? Or the answer to his question? See Mt. 16

Denomination has absolutely nothing to do with salvation. If you know anything about prophesy... religion in and of itself is going down. A personal relationship with the personal Jesus is what Jesus' message was about, and once every follower of Jesus understands that WE are the church of Christ (NOT some denomination) that is the beginning of knowledge.

blessings :)

NO, they were the ones that killed him, is Pontius Pilate name where you guys get calling certain ones Pontius?
they don't follow his teachings either......The apostle Paul warns that one of the identifying features of the apostasy that was to come would be enforced celibacy, “forbidding to marry.” (1Ti 4:1, 3) Some of the apostles were married. (1Co 9:5; Lu 4:38) Paul, in setting forth the qualifications for overseers and ministerial servants in the Christian congregation, says that these men (if married) should have only one wife.—1Ti 3:1, 2, 12; Tit 1:5, 6.
he said NOT to called any man on earth father, but they do...In keeping with the psalmist’s counsel not to put our trust in human leaders are Jesus’ words: “You must not call anyone here on earth ‘Father,’ because you have only the one Father in heaven. Nor should you be called ‘Leader,’ because your one and only leader is the Messiah.”—Matt. 23:9, 10
They don't use his father's name, they only reconize jesus himself......And I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them.
He said the father was greater than he was, so why teach the trinity? it's not biblical...YOU heard that I said to YOU, I am going away and I am coming [back] to YOU. If YOU loved me, YOU would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.
