i have owned my car for 3yrs now but when i tried to renew my registration this year the dmv told me i dont own the car anymore but they sent me a renewal form in the mail anyway. They are not being helpful at all. When i pulled a car fax report i learnt that my car has been sold twice this year but i havent sold it to anyone and still have my title and actual physical car with me. Anyone have any idea what the problem is here?

Fraud is taking place somewhere.
Check the vin on the one you have, maybe it's not the one on the paper work.
Contact the Police about it, some form of crime has been committed someplace (or a bureaucratic error at least).

Look at the VIN on the "A" pillar of your car and the one you can see on the metal plate through the windshield, drivers side. Compare that with the one on your registration and title. Do they match? If so, take said title to the DMV and show them it IS your car. If they don't match, the car you have obviously isn't yours. Find out who it really belongs to. In any case, the DMV will be able to sort it all out for you. Be persistent.

Does the report give details about the car--year, model, make, etc.? Do they match your car? If they don't, someone probably mistyped a number somewhere. If they do match, there's a real mystery, probably involving some illegal activity, though not on your part. So call the police!

I recommend contacting the police to see if they would be able to assist in getting this mess cleared up. They could run the information to see exactly what has happened.
