if i upgrade my operating system from XP to Vista, will i still have all of my programs and saved fies?

if you do the upgrade then you should. but there are known compatibility issues with certain older programs running under vista. research this or you'll run into trouble later.

Search the messages and see how many of them going back from Vista to XP, then decide for yourself.

best advice: don't upgrade to vista. i have it on my computer and it's not worth it. keep the XP.
