I dress my dogs all the time, it gets cold out and I wear a sweater for extra warmth why not them. Our shih tzu has long hair but it is silky so she gets cold very fast. We had her dressed in a snowsuit and boots and she was still shirvering. We even keep extra blankets in the car for our dogs. Although I do dress them for fun, for christmas I bought my Bichon Frise a business suit and our Shih tzu a cocktail dress and then took them to have their picture taken with santa. They even have pjs for when we go camping. They don't mind it I mean if they did I wouldn't dress them up.

I buy my Mom's smallest dog outfits even though my mom doesn't dress the dog because it has arthritis & shivers when cold then limps. It gets in the single digits where I live. I will see them for $1 or 2 on sale or clearence so it's no big deal because the dog likes it. The pup is also so sweet to me & loving. You can't help wanting to do something nice. I did buy her large dog a Halloween shirt for $3 because it's an all black dog & the black shirt had glow in the dark eyes. My mom goes all out on the decorations so I figured it would be cool when the dogs out to see glowing eyes walking around the fake headstones in her lawn graveyard. Both are girl dogs!

I put my dog in a coat. I didn't really want to, but there was limited choice. He was younger then, and nearly bald on his legs, belly, and behind. I live in the North East, so the cold and snow are a common thing. As much as I hated (and he hated) that stupid coat, I really didn't want him to get cold!

I really hate dressing dogs up, but to protect our domesticated friends from the elements when we have bred their natural protection out of them is the only way I can justify it.

Please people! Stop putting unnecessary clothes on your pet! Your Chihuahua does not like wearing a tutu that much! And it's a DOG not a REINDEER! There's no need for antlers!

Some people find it "cute" if the dog doesn't mind the clothes I don't see it as a problem. If the dog doesn't like the clothes, then the owner shouldn't do it. I have a toy pom and live in upstate NY, so I put clothes on my dog every now and then for warmth. If you live someplace cold, that may be the reason.

my family is disscussing buying our dog (cockapoo/terrier) a raincoat, rainboots, snowcoat, and snowboots. this is only because he won't go to the yard if it's raining or if there is snow on the ground. if we carry hime out, he will turn and run for the porch and do his business there. he also get halloween costumes, and has a santa suit and christmas sweater, but thats as far as it goes. on cold days he gats a short walk and a run in the yard.

A lot of people do it because they think it's cute. I have Chihuahuas, and they get cold very easily, so the only reason I put sweaters on my dogs in the cold weather, is to keep them warm! Mine seem to like their sweaters. All I have to do is show them to them, and they come running up, wanting me to put their sweaters on!

some outfits are just for fun but some of the clothing like the sweaters are to keep them warm and the reflector jackets are to keep the dog safe so it dont get hit by a car i like to dress my animals up cause i think its cute why leave your animal naked dress them they sometimes dont like it but i like to dress them up and take pictures of them trying to take them off cause its cute and funny then after the pictures i take them off unless im taking them some where i put there coat on them and dont take it off untill we get back home.

In some cases it's function. There are dogs who just can't cope with the cold temps because of their fur consistancy.

I always dressed up my dog in every session. I have Labrador breed dog in golden brown color. My dog looks prettier in black upper jacket.

It is just a fun thing, no harm. Sometimes singles see their toys as little kids and alot of the toy breeds do have a child-like personality!!!
