Thanks everybody. I now got some info to look up. I'll look up the Lend-lease program. Yes, it's true this is for school, but had difficulties finding pages that stated US-role without having to read 10 pages. So I found this page and asked here.

The US enters "other people's" wars when there is some financial/economical gain for them.

The United States in essence largely financed the war for the Western Allies and provided billions of dollars worth of military equipment to the Soviet Union, Britain, Free France, and Nationalist China. A lot of it was basically given away and written off, but also some of it was paid for and Britain ended up tranferring most of its gold reserves to the United States over the course of the war (which irritated Churchill).

Before entering the war the US provided weapons to the Allied powers (mainly Great Britain). The US became a manufacturing powerhouse of the war. US industry was able to provide a massive amount of war fighting machinery to the war effort. Sale of weapons jumpstarted the US economy and is a major reason why the US is one of the riches and most powerful nation in the world

If you look at the "economic roles" the best answer is USA's Lend-Lease programs with Great Britan and USSR.
