I think your question should have went, if the earth is zillions of years old and we humans were supposed to come from apes, why do we then still have apes? what happened to the ones that are left, were they not able to turn into humans then. Thing is this evolution business, has a whole lot of holes in it, again, a theory put forward by another human being who thought they knew a whole lot about life and the purpose of its existance and how it started, so called experts. Think of it what you will but I think we were all made seperate, one species from another, with no links to one another at all, similarities maybe, but other than that, total division. Human Kind versus Animal Kingdom and thats the way it is as we can see for ourselves today.

in the begin time the young earth was spinning around the sun at a much higher velocity than today, everthing that moves will slow down, right ? if you count one year as one revolution of the earth around the sun then earth is indeed zillions of years old.

"Who decided that a year is 365 days? and the length of days is 24 hours?"
Year is defined as the time it takes the Earth to make a full rotation. Day is defined as a full spin.

The earth is around 4.5 billion years old. Strange thing about time, it keeps on going and going... That is except around a black hole or between electron movements and then it gets weird.
