does every living thing in the house come to join you? I get both my children, two cats, 3 dogs and on occassion, my husband. Is this the only time they feel I can give them my undivided attention?

I do shut the door and there is no lock.
The kids come in then let the animals in and then my hubby comes to basically see where everyone went.

Oh, beautiful Spt, you have achieved the status of GG! *contact my avatar if you would like further information* You were joined by your adoring enterage and it is a sure sign of your Alpha B as refers to K9 females...couldn't say that *can I say that?* status as matriarch of the household.
Congratulations, Captain Mom, knower of all things, creator of all things tasty, fixer of booboos, magick woman. Welcome to the domain of GG. Locks don't work, they stand outside at critical moments and say,
"Hey! Hey MOM, what are you doing?!" and you thought you taught them how to read and write and do math before 1st grade. Roids are us comes next. Life is beautiful. Thanks for reminding me how perfect it is to be single with 2 big dogs that greet me as the GG I am. On my throne, of course.
There is no solution to the adoration of you family, pack, and pride when you are the Alpha. Accept their adoration.

Thats funny, I get that with my kids all the time they stand in front of the door crying if I don't let them in with me. But my husband know better than to try to come in!

I believe this is the only way your family and pets get to see you together. I think you shoud make more of an effort to be with all of them. It seem to me that you make more of an effort to stay away from them.
I am sorry but I had to tell you the truth.
