You can give the repo man any amount of money that you would like to give him, but his job is to take that vehicle back to the lender. Unless he has agreements with the lender to accept payment on site to forfeit the repossession, then I wouldn't give him a dime. If he does have that agreement, I would certainly see it in writing on a letterhead from the lender allowing an on-site payment.

Repo men do not work for the car dealer. They are outside parties that are hired to take cars back. You will need to pay the dealer, or work something out with them. If they let you out of it, you'll probably have to pay an extra fee to cover the dealer's cost of hiring the repo man.

If one repo man doesn't get your car, the next one will.

If you have money to bribe a repo man, pay your bills.

what would prevent him from taking your money and then lying about it?

if you have the money, call the finance company and arrange to pay it. they might even send an authorized collector out to your house to pick it up.

Yes you can make sure you get a proper receipt, time, date, name ect. and then send a copy over to the bank. You never know they might lose it. But do not give them cash!!!! Hope this helps, even if you don't have a copier, right it twice and have the repo people sign it saying you did pay with check # 0000 and the amount.

Hope it helps.
