I always remember when about nine years ago now I telephoned Liverpool Social Services to tell them my 93 year ol mother had died. I was asked for her address which I gave and also that of the Nursing home was then asked when she was going back. Fortunately I immediately saw the humour in it and began to giggle which soon developed into a rich belly laugh. This confused the poor chap I was speaking to and the more he tried to dig himself out the more I laughed. It was the first laugh I had had for some time over anything and I felt the best I had felt since my mother had taken ill some weeks before.

In reply to your question yes it is infuriating and even more so when you have to repeat what you have said three or four times and you are on an 0800 number

Ok, how frustrating that must have been. How could you not know when the person is available if the appt. book is in front of you? That is just crazy. Maybe the person who answered the phone was new and felt uncomfortable about scheduling the appointment as they didn't want to pick the wrong day and time. They should have asked for assistance though.

It works the other way too. I make hospital appts and people phone up to change times etc. and have no idea what they are coming for or what day their appointment is, even though they have been sent a letter. You want to be helpful, but you do need a certain amount of information !

Jessy, Jessy calm down.
I can afford to do exactly the same because I am grumpy old man.
people like you, though, should be a suit lady.

I hope you are not very tall, you might get offended.
