Like I said I have a Samsung 50" DLP HDTV and a Samsung Surround sound system with a 5 disc dvd receiver. How do I get the sound to come out of my surround sound from my tv? Do I just need a digital cable? Also does any one know why the dvd player would cut in and out of sound? It only does it like 2 maybe 3 times during a movie and the sound is only out for about 2 sec. then comes back on, like it skips but it doesn't lose the picture? Any help is appreciated this is my first setup! Thanks!

If you have tv out plug ins then use some coaxial like rca cables the red and white to the audio center console which should hopefully have inputs that say tv in etc.

Cutting in and out during movie have you consulted the owners manual and trouble shooting if not it could be something internal or it could be the disc if it happens all the time then maybe have the unit looked at.

There are two ways I can think of to get TV sound out to your speakers.
1) If you have your cable plugged directly into the TV then you should look at our in/outputs for digital audio out. It'll probably be in the form of optical or rca. You would then run the appropriate cable to the TV input on your receiver. This, of course, would only give you 2-chanel audio.
2) If you have a cable box (doesn't have to be digital cable but digital cable would give you full 5.1 chanel audio) then you can run both video and audio out from the cable box into your receiver and then just a monitor out cable (either HDMI or Component, whichever your receiver and TV support) to your TV. This would give you the best quality of sound to your speakers.
