My couch foam in cushions were very helpful when I was on it one night, so this is where I got the idea. What can help?

Yes! I have just purchased a cheap medium firm mattress. On top I have a memory foam topper and it works for me. Likewise, in the flat, I have a pro pad topper, given to me by the Hospital, as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Kyphosis, Scoliosis and a few other problems. It is important that all your back is supported and I find it easy to support my back by using these products. However, you do need a new mattress, because old mattress and topper will not work.
