While planning for a wedding, what did you forget?

Wedding planning can be stressful, and at the least is full of a lot of details unless you're having a very simple affair.

What did you forget while you were busy planning, if you did it yourself? I cannot afford a coordinator, so I'll doing it all on my own. (By on my own, I mean, with my fiance, my mother, his mother, and my aunt.) Was it detrimental that you forgot it? Do you wish you had remembered?

Were there things outside of the wedding that you forget to do (like find a place to live) ? How did life outside the wedding stay organized?

I miraculously didn't forget anything. If you use a website like www.weddingchannel.com or www.theknot.com, they have checklists that help you keep everything in line and organized. That's what helped me the most. I was able to figure out when I needed to start looking for different vendors, when I should send out invitations, etc. etc. HUGE help. Good luck!

First off, Congrats! I saw first hand what my sister-in-law wen't through, through the whole process; and may I say that a good wedding book will help tons! A lot of those wedding books have a check list in the front of them telling you when you should be doing things, and what to be doing. The one thing that I will never forget was that my sister-in-law got a unitity candle, not thinking it was going to be windy outside, (they had to pretend to light it) So don't forget to think of little things like that. I bought a wedding planner book at the book store that helped with everything and kept everythinig organized. The only thing I forgot was to coordinate who was to pay the minister (which of course is voluntary). He was paid 3 times (by my spouse, father and mother). Oh well.

Lists, lists, and more lists. I had a list for everything, in a big spiral bound notebook that I took everywhere I went.

The only thing I think I didn't do just right was the pictures- we didn't get a lot of pics with family members. That's the only thing I regret.

The other thing that helped was to run through the day in my mind, imagining everything I would have to do. That would help me remember little details that I might not have thought of. As soon as I thought about it, I wrote it down!

I forgot to put directions to the wedding reception in the invitations.

I didn't have a hard time planning the wedding, I found it very fun.

Just make sure you have a check list (I bought a wedding planner) and mark off everything as you go..and enjoy your self!

I forgot to keep things in perspective and to have fun with it. You do not need a coordinator. That is foolish. Pick who you want to be in your wedding party. Get the dresses you like. Pick out the tuxes you like. Find a place to have a wedding. Order invitations. Order a cake for the reception. I would not have a big meal. Decide if you want a bar and if it is a cash bar. Decide if you want music. If you do, find a DJ. Have fun!

Sounds stupid but I forgot to bring a credit card with me and so did my fiance!! We ran out of beer and need the liquor store to bring more! Luckily, we borrowed a friends and later wrote them a check.

I forgot to double check the directions- and gave everyone the wrong directions to the reception- DON'T TRUST MAPQUEST!

Everything outside the wedding was fine but we were already living together. Forgot to bring an European apter for my curling iron so I was all dressed up with my hair straight!!

I didn't forget anything, but ....

... about a week before the wedding my mom suggested getting a runner. I wasn't going to, but I got married in April and she pointed out if it rains, guests might track in mud or water, and I'll be walking up the aisle after all our guests walk up it, and then later when my dress is bustled, the underside of my train will be showing - so the runner could help keep my dress somewhat clean. plus the ushers unrolling the runner made a cool picture. and my mom offered to pay for it.

.... for her wedding, my BFF (I was her MOH) set up a thing on shutterfly where everyone can upload their candids from her wedding in the same spot. but she forgot to print something up with the link to pass out during the reception. she also didn't pass anything out with the link to the professional photos. she sent out an email later on, but sometimes you don't have everyone's email address. I did pass out something with the link at my wedding (I printed it up on business cards and attached them to business card-sized self-adhesive magnets so people could put them on the fridge and remember). but we were also having our hired photographers put their photos in this same spot on shutterfly, so that was also our way of letting them know where the professional photos were for ordering/viewing.

.... instead of doing bubbles post-ceremony, we planned on exiting through our guests holding sparklers post-reception. but that's didn't happen, because we stayed until the very end because my laptop was our DJ and I didn't want to leave early without it, so at the end we were scrambling around helping clean up, and his parents were packing gifts in their car and my parenst were packing up the centerpieces, etc. so not a good time to try to coordinate some sort of exit (it would have been an awesome picture though). I wish we had used the sparklers as the exit post-ceremony, even though it was light out. not as cool, but cooler than having no run-through-the-crowd picture at all.

Me and my mother did it all together. I forget to get some sleep the night before the wedding, One of the biggies things I forget to do was clean the church fall floor. So the train of my dress picked every thing up.

I had to get the dress dried cleaned that was an expanse that I did not plan on.
