Sorry, there is nothing to make it go away faster, there is only medicine available to make it not hurt so much. The only thing to take to PREVENT, not get rid of cold sores is a medicine called, Acyclovir. But you need a prescription from a doctor.
If you get cold sores often, I'd recommend taking this medicine.
What ever you do, don't put things like toothpaste, salt, mustard and all those other home remedies on it, they won't help. The only thing that will make it go away is time. Once you have one, that's it . . . it's there until it goes away on it's own. Even with cold sore medicines, it will still take about a week to disappear. Sorry.
Read the guy below me, he's right, your cold sore is a form of herpes, and you'll have it for life.

Herpes Simplex is fun...isn't it. MOST of the medicines on the market will only treat the symptoms. Some will supress the symptoms. None will cure them (or the cold sore). The virus will live in your CNS for the rest of your life. There are treatments available that will shorten the outbreak, but that is about it.

Lysine (an amino acid --Protein) works. You can get it as a salve, or in tablet or capsule form. If you take it as soon as you feel one starting, it helps greatly. You can take it regularly, though some folks say you should not take it every day. I am not sure why, for it is a common protein, which evidently is slightly in short supply in our diet.

The HSV-1 virus creates cold sores (aka fever blisters). We might get them from drinking someone else's drink, someone else's fork, sharing lip balm, and by smooching someone which has them. The red bumps are somewhat troublesome blisters which might surface next to the lip area, or possibly the interior of your mouth or nostril, on your face, and elsewhere on your skin.
They could surface simply because of increased stress and anxiety, the common cold, a fever, winter weather, particular foods, or too much sun. The spot can begin to tingle, and after that a blister will appear. The sore may dry and establish a yellow-colored crusting. They may last anywhere from 7 to 14 days. You might attempt to cover it up the cold sore using cosmetics, although that often tends to make it a whole lot worse.
To eliminate them, you could try covering them with a cold sore specific lotion, apply lip balm with SPF 15, use licorice extract, ingest echinacea, vitamins C and E, and totally keeping away from touching it. By embracing several lifestyle changes, it is actually achievable to avoid cold sores and even stop them from reappearing.
