isn't this just a cop out for saying "god is not going to do what you ask him to do"? indeed the percentage of "miracles" in say the field of medicine that occur because of prayer are on par with the number of that occur without prayer. couldn't one just assume that these are not miracles then?

searcher, in that case prayer is pointless. according to you, every medical situation could have at least one person praying. if anything it proves even further that miracles don't occur, not through prayer anyway.

consider this, ten people get sick with cancer. they all pray for a miracle. one lives, the rest die. most likely, the person who lived will say prayer helped him or her. what about the people who died? what is their in the matter?

Apparently -- I mean, he d*cks over poor Job just to win a bet with Satan when (being omniscient) he already knows the outcome....

Do you have a way to prove this? Of those "miracles" that occurred without prayer...how is that actually determined? Maybe the patient themself did not pray for healing...but how are you going to determine if ANYONE prayed for that individual? "Just curious" on how you think that can be accomplished.

It's not just praying per-say that works. But the power of prayer. Psychologically we all have the power within ourselves to cure whatever ails us. By thinking positively, many have survived through cancer and other diseases.
I beleive in prayer and that God can heal the sick. I also beleive that medical science can as well.
If many people who believed in God knew that prayer worked so well, they would never go to the doctor. In fact there are sects of Christianity that do not seek medical attention for themselves or their children, because they beleive with enough prayer that they will be healed.
Personally, I think it's a little bit of both prayer and medicine.

When you consider that the natural course of things is to degenerate-- unless we care for it-- then in fact every healing is a miracle. God has created our body to produce antibodies to the germs we encounter, so that we can get over a simple cold. And you know how miserable one can be with just a cold.
God has given mankind intelligence and curiosity to search out new things and find answers to problems and this includes the field of medicine as well. He wants us to use all that we know to improve our lives and help those around us.
I think it was Martin Luther who said that "God will not let us have by prayer, what we can do with our own hands and minds or He would deny the gifts He has put into His creation"
So, when we pray for someone who is sick, we do our part by seeking medical care, and ask Him to do His part to give the doctors wisdom to find out what's wrong and find the right treatment and to intervene when man comes to his limits.
A doctor may be able to set a fracture, by surgery or putting a limb in a cast, but he can't "buzz" the cells to produce the healing that is needed for the bone to become one piece again.
When we pray, we admit our helplessness to God and ask Him to help us. He is still sovereign and decides what is best for each individual case. We never can DEMAND of God to do a certain thing, but to come HUMBLY to Him and ask Him to help.

God isnt IN the signs and wonders (miracles) business in this dispensation of GRACE. Many professing christians arent even aware of this as they do not STUDY Gods Word as He told us to, making sure to keep what is given to Israel separate from what is given to US.
Israel was the SIGN NATION. WE are the Body of Christ and we are told to "walk by FAITH and not by sight" and that "Gods grace is sufficient."
God is God and WE are not....trust me, He isnt some celestial "bellhop" in the sky waiting for us to tell Him which way to jump. Those who truly know Him, will align themselves with HIS plan and purposes and will KNOW how He is operating today. Its not a secret anymore, but there are alot of ignorant christians who think God will do what He promised to do for the Nation Israel today. It aint gonna happen.
Is it any wonder that Paul warns we who are in the Body of Christ NOT to be ignorant of the mysteries entrusted to us? Most professing christians belong to the church of the ignorant brethren...the largest denomination on the planet. This is something NOT to be proud of!

You really think Christianity would be around if the Bible said you could test and see if God even exists?
Survival of the fittest.. it applies to religions too.

You make a lot of assertions that are not reflected in fact. YHVH wants us to prove Him, that He will be shown to be true, and thus can save us. He does not want us to "tempt" Him. That is a rather different matter.

God challenges you to challenge Him to prove if His words are not perfect. He is in no way afraid of a challenge .
