sorry I had urgent family commitments. My brother was taken to hospital etc.
I'm sorry i wrote down that the homework was due for next week by mistake.
I found this homework really hard. I did this.... but now I think i need more time to do the rest

Hmm........ you weren't well, you had a power cut, there was a flood at home, your dog was sick and had to go to the vet......... there are loads but to be honest teachers have heard them all and you'll still get a detention so best just do it . If you HAVE to have an excuse then bandage 2 of the fingers up on the hand you write with and say thats why (but you'll have to keep it on for a couple of days)xxx

Tell them your dog ate your homework.
Then physically take your homework, run parts of it under water, tear it up with a fork, then bring it to school in a ziploc bag as proof.

Your teacher invented that excuse years ago and the teacher who caught your teacher our invented it years before. Surprise them tell the truth 9tactfuilly if you can) make no excuses. That really puts them off their stride
