Which makes me ask, why do creationists continue to box themselves in with the premise that proof of god's existence is in those things that science cannot explain? That just tosses the guantlet to scientists so that they work harder to explain further. Truth is, science and spirituality are not mutually exclusive. Consequently, the more that believers try and justify their beliefs by saying "you find god in the dark, unknown places" the more they box themselves in when science finds a way of shinning light into those dark, unknown places.

It's time to accept the fact that evolution is real and exists. It's also time for believers to find a way to reconcile that fact.

Your thoughts?

maybe god shines the light, maybe god wants us to believe in science so that we continue life and not just leave it all to god just maybe god is testing true believers. i for 1 have a strong belief upon evidence that i would not like to share. believers, i mean true believers dont need to challenge science, what makes people challenge science, those that arent too sure about thier own believes and need some-one to do the dirty work and see how secure thier believe really is.

the proof of evolution is more mental than visual, consider the cave men, they are typical baby like, then comes the dark ages, typical child, believing in fantasy and wat not, the 60s, 70s are the teens, highly into fashion and extremed violence, and our time i would say adult hood, racism, sexism and the rest of these silly comparative things are reduced to very little numbers. consider this and its a evolution in the making.

i'm just a kid but i've seen the light.

Thoughts?
I am atheist, so there is no God, end of that theory!
Because I am atheist it doesn't have to follow that I believe in the 'theory' of evolution. It is certainly more acceptable than the God thing, but still a theory until it can be proved.
Back to your question.
The Jesus slant on the old testament changed God from a God of vengeance into a God of love (among other things) The eye for an eye thing vanished! Quite a few changes, in fact an updated news flash if you like?
Now it wont take a lot to make a few more changes if the theory of evolution is proved beyond any doubt!
I could start now!
Best to start at the beginning;-
"In the beginning there was God"!!!
That would of course have to remain, but immediatly followed by "God caused a big bang to occour"!
OK you can take it from there.
Religion would 'adapt' as it has in the past.
We would of course require a new Messiah, but only the Christians think Jesus was the Messiah, the rest think he was a Prophet only .
Just a few other problems to sort out, Muslims belive their Prophet wa the last Prophet, they would take some convincing to accept a new feller.
Jews are not very happy about fellers popping up and poclaiming they are God.
While doing a few mods to the 'bibles' would be quite easy, presentation would be vital!
Now who do we know that could be accepted as the Messiah?

yesterday my wife sent me a news article where a college biology teacher was fired because he believed the earth was made in 6 days and that evolution was not scientific fact. now he works for the college started by Jerry Falwell. As long as we have these flat earth teachers we will have the problems associated with believing and trying to brainwash others with pseudo science crap. We need to get our science to the forefront and solve the worlds problems and forget the super natural that we have no control or knowledge of. God was invented by man The earth is 4.6 billion years old There was rain for millions of years to was down the rock and form the oceans. That would have been a great flood but no organic creatures live then to record it. Science is a wonderful thing and can help mankind. Religion does have its place but should not be telling others what to believe especially young minds that are so easy to misled.

We have ample evidence of evolution. Answers to your other questions: 1. If I put a rock outer space waited for the correct amour of energy and crap would I have my own man made earth? Answer: Maybe, if the conditions were right and you waited five billion years. 2. If evolution is real wouldn't frog, humans, monkeys, etc still be evolving? Answer: They are. In fact, each human has about 100 minor mutations. 3. I see no monkeys, humans or frogs and crap evolving if it were true wich it isn't wouldn't stuff still be evolving This is called an Argument from Ignorance, and is a logical fallacy.

evolution is not real do you have any proof that it is? hmm no? the bible is our evidence i mean come on an ape turing into a man no. Then why cant they turn a ape into man now. Exactly my point why evolution isnt real. Some day scientists are gonna run out of ideas how evolution isnt real. They might as well face the fact. If you dont belive in the only God that is ur decision to make may God be with you in Hell.

Ahem. All I saw was a picture of (what looked like) three ape and one human skeleton arranged in an evolutionary "ladder," and an article wondering whether human evolution was speeding up, along with a lot of postulating about the age and history of the evolution of mankind. They did not explain how they "knew" that humans and chimpanzees seperated 6 million years ago, nor how the ability to digest fresh milk is an indicator of macro-evolution. But oh, don't worry, evolution "on that scale occurs over thousands, even millions of years." So we won't see any changes for at least a few more thousand years, right? Well, no changes have been observed in the past few thousand years, either. Yes, people have developed into different races and developed different characteristics. But they're still humans. They haven't changed into any other species. Humans are still humans. Chimpanzees are still chimpanzees. Orangutans are still orangutans. We can't even repeat macro-evolution in the lab with fruit flies. Frankly, I think stretching evolution out to "thousands, even millions of years" is intended to cover up the fact that macro-evolution has NEVER been observed.

I'll be impressed when you can provide me with any 100% certain, undeniable transitional fossil, whether it was synthetically manipulated in the lab or naturally formed. If evolution has been occurring for millions of years, we should be eye-deep in said fossils. Instead, all we have are a few highly controversial examples-- and the vast majority of those are "ape-man" fossils. People and primates already share a close resemblance to each other, but they are still separate and distinct species.

Good luck finding a transitional fossil and first-hand observations of macro-evolution.

My problem isn't reconiling God with macro-evolution. My problem is that I have never observed macro-evolution in progress, nor have I seen any conclusive proof for it.

Its amazing how the more information we know, the more we know about evolution. And the more information we know, there is still no science for any other explanation. Yet some people view this trend as leading to an ultimate falsification of evolution and proof of creationism. I don't get it. But then again, there are a lot of people who don't educate themselves on science, and simply form beliefs from other sources.

Actually...you said it yourself..."science and spirituality are not mutually exclusive." There's not need to choose one over the other...the 'believers' don't have to 'reconcile that fact'...and science is not the one illuminating dark places...nor is the Bible. We are the ones we've been waiting for (Hopi prophecy). There is not as much distance between these two perspectives as it may seem...

This argument is as old as it is bad. I wish sincerely for Evolutionists to;
1. admit what they believe is not science
2. stop equating evolution to science
3. examine their belief rather than defend it
4. use logic and reasoning
5. stop shackling scientific research

God's handiwork can be seen everywhere. Can you make a planet that works as well as this one? Can you even make a bug? How about a cell? Although we have brilliant scientists and many resources we cannot make even one life form. Even if we could it would prove that it takes intelligence to make life.
If you cannot see that then perhaps it is YOU who are in the dark. If you dig for a treasure in the wrong spot all you will find is more dirt.

evolution describes a process that is not proven

a change in an allele is not evolution, it is a change in a gene

a moth changing color is not evolution

a single cell animal still has not been shown to become a multi-cellular animal

finding a single cell animal and a multicell animal such as a hydra does not suggest that the single cell became the multi-cell animal

you have to stretch a lot of imagination and basically my faith is science is too strong to be able to make that jump. if it violates basic laws of nature (and this does) then I can't accept it without hard evidence.

that knife of science in your hand may well cut you if you are not careful.
