I will graduate in May with an Associate's degree in Accounting and will begin working on my Bachelor's next fall. I am looking to relocating to Raleigh, NC (an hour from my current location) soon after graduation, but I don't know how to begin the job search. When should I begin sending out resumes and to whom? Besides temporary agencies specializing in accounting, where else can I look to get my foot in the door?

Also, you need to see if your school offers employer placement, meaning they will set up an interview for you in your field, helping you get the job. Start sending out resumes as soon as possible. If you feel you don't meet all the criteria for the position, apply anyway, you never know who is the right fit for the job.

Does your school have a placement department?

Begin sending out resumes maybe 6 months before you move. Read employment ads online and in the Raleigh newspaper.

I started off as pre-med, as I had some background in it, but moved to computers because I liked them. Overall, I think I would never have done well in med, because I didn't have the discipline for it, I did, however, have a naturla interest in computers, and the switch was easy. I've never looked back, although I have integrated the two (doing medical software). If you don't like accounting, and like web design, go for the web design.

try local mom and pop type accounting firms... because after the New Years Party tax time starts and some need additional help.. I would send resumes and stuff now and see what they can say to you...
