here are some home remedies which are very good for dry hair. i had dry hair myself but when i tried these tips it was great! they've never been dry again!
Dont go out and buy anything expensive.
First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)
Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)
Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)
Beat up on an Egg: Separate the white of an egg from the yolk, and whip the white thoroughly. Then add 1 tablespoon of water to the yolk and blend until the mixture is creamy. Next, mix the white and yolk together. Wet your hair with warm water, remove the excess moisture, and apply the egg mixture to your scalp with your fingertips. Massage gently until the froth is worked into your scalp, and then rinse the hair with cool water. Keep applying the mixture until it is used up. Continue to rinse until all of the egg is washed away
Go for the Mayo: Heat up one half cup of mayonnaise until it becomes an oily, white goo and apply to dry, unwashed hair. Cover your hair with a plastic bag and leave on for at least 15 minutes. Then, rinse and shampoo thoroughly.
Mix up a Tropical Treat: Mash one over-ripe banana (the blacker, the better) with a mushy, rotten avocado. Massage this exotic puree into your hair and leave on for at least 15 minutes before washing out…in the kitchen sink!).
Grab a Cold One. Beer can give your dry hair a healthy sheen. Before you blow-dry or style, use a pump bottle to spray brew onto your hair. The beer will leave your hair shiny and sleek and its odor will disappear quickly.
In addition to using these home remedies regularly to avoid dry hair, try the following preventative measures:
Avoid overshampooing. Shampooing can wash away the hair's protective oils, so try washing less often and use a mild shampoo labeled "for dry or damaged hair."
Condition regularly. Conditioners protect the hair’s cuticle layer from splitting from the shaft. Pick a conditioner that works well for your hair and use it after every shampoo.
Wear a hat. Too much exposure to wind and sun can leave hair thirsty.
Trim off split ends. The biggest problem caused by dry hair is split ends. Schedule a trim every six to eight weeks to keep fraying ends under control.
Ease up on the heat. Heat (in the form of blow dryers, as well as straightening and curling irons) can quickly dry out hair. Let your hair air dry occasionally. Try using plastic cylinder rollers to straighten hair by wrapping slightly moist hair under and around rollers for about 10 minutes. For curling, try using sponge rollers overnight or sleeping with moist braids.
Don't swim without a cap. Use a rubber cap to protect your hair from the damaging effects of chlorine. If you must forgo a cap, rub a spoonful of olive oil into your hair before diving in.
Another thing is also putting in lotion in your hair after you have gotten out of the shower and you can also put in lotion in hair after you have dried it.
Just rub some lotion on your finger tips and run it through your hair evenly.
Also, something that will help your hair is to take COLDshowers. What most people dont know is that if you take hot showers, the heat gets rid of the oils and other things that your hair needs to be kept healty and shiney.
Smash an avocado and mix with jojoba and peppermint oils. Make sure its really smooth you may want to put it in a food processor with a little water. Then apply some to your scalp and the rest on your hair. Massage for a minute or so then put on a plastic cap. Leave for 15 to 30 minutes. The avocado and jojoba oils will moisterize and the peppermint will stimulate your scalp to loosen any dead skin and open your pores. It will feel great. Your hair will grow better and won't be dry. :)
Hope this helps!

Try a tablespoon of olive oil mixed with fresh lemon juice. Other than that try hot oil or there is one called mediterranean oilive oil made by planet spa for avon. I bought some for a pound a bottle.
Another way is to put your usual conditioner on and wrap a plastic carrier bag around your head - this generates heat and opens up your hair shafts to let the goodness of the conditioner in. Leave on for half an hour then rinse with luke warm water to close the hair shaft back. Your hair then should be soft and shiney. Works for me anyway.

Yes. Mayonnaise. Put it in your hair and leave it in for about an hour or a little longer. The oils and minerals in the mayo will be absorbed by your dry hair. Although this makes your head smell pretty gross for a few days, it definitely helps. If your hair is really dry, i recommend doing it every week or so.

A generous oil application and massage is recommended before washing the hair. Frequent shampooing is harmful for dry hair. Sometimes lack of nutrients can also cause dry brittle hair. Take a multivitamin and mineral supplement on a daily basis. Check out http://solutionsfordryhair.blogspot.com/ for more info.

the first thing u should do in the morning is that splash tap water on closed eyes for 2 minutes.
Do yoga (pranayam) as instructed by ramdev baba on tv. i'd same problem as urs but now my hair fall has reduced in just 15 days. Also use hair oil available at ramdev's ayurvedic stores.
Never comb wet hair.
use hair softener before combing hair like livon.
In morning, take i glass juice of dudi(or loki, ghiya) + amla + apple mixed. it really works very quickly. if u cant prepare at home than amla juice is available at ramdev stores and just u have to prepare juice of unboiled (raw) dudi in juicer. and eat apple as such with it if u cant make juice of it. this one will really work.
try to protect ur hair from dust, sunlight for that use scarf.
apply mendi + amla shikakai aretha + egg twice a month.
eat protien rich diet like beans, chana, sprouts, pulses.
milk is very important for hairs. so atleast take i cup milk everyday.
remember only following any one of these may not help you completely. try to follow as many as of above u can do. and they are not very difficult also. i've followed all this n got really nice results , i'm sure they'll help you also.
take care n please reply if r benefited by my suggestions...
I’ve tried sumthing magical jus two days back and u know what it has worked surprisingly… apply egg in ur hair wait for 30 min then wash with warm water and wash using a mild shampoo like dove, lo’real… let ur hair dry then comb and jus feel the magic… soft shiny and hair fall reduced upto 90%

Really, the easiest and fastest solution is to go all natural. Use natural hair rinses every other day and in between "wash" with just water. Scrubbing your hair without damaging shampoo will allow your natural oils to regain power over your hair.

The only home remedy that I know to work for dry hair is mayonnaise. Not Miracle Whip or Salad Dressing... The real Mayonnaise. It will condition your hair wonderfully! Also... try washing it our with eggs. Good luck to you!
