Who do you think poses the biggest Submarine threat to the US, or has the best Submarines outside the US? Why do you think this? I'm curious of what people know about Submarines. Since I have a good idea, well the answer, I'll put this up to a vote when done, I don't want to give the impression some-one may be too correct!

Darlene,
The US, UK, France, Russia, and China all have Nuclear Submarines. All with Attack and Ballistic Missile versions.

Robert S,
Thanks for the star, but really the only thing that concerns us is another submarine, if we do not want to be found, we can disapear.

Calnicke,
A submarine does not make sound because a bouy is dropped. A submarine will give a return (echo), but a prudently operated submarine can easily use the environment to evade them.

Allot of good answers! The best to evaluate the best answer is to use the three items that tells how good any force is.
Equipment (Comms, sensors, ships ect.)
Weapons (missiles, small arms ect.)
Training (How well the force is ready to use the above two)
Now it is up for you to vote. Who had the best answer?

My greatest concern would be China, long-term.
China has been developing its blue-water Navy at what many observers consider to be an alarming rate. While the Russians most likely have better technology than the Chinese, Russia's economic problems have left much of its navy in very poor repair. A number of their ships have been sold to--guess who?
Also, the Chinese world-wide interests are far more likely to be in conflict with U.S. world-wide interests. China's economy is growing, while Russia's is struggling. The Chinese consider the United States to be a threat.
All things being equal, the best submarines outside the U.S. would most likely be either French or British, but neither represents much of a threat to the U.S., so I would consider them more likely to be an ally than an enemy. The Russian subs are good quality, with a few inconsistencies. Given their numbers and depending on who has them, they probably represent the greatest threat.
My concern would be Russian subs sailed by Chinese, or Chinese submarines most likely copied from Russian designs.
Japanese submarines are also good quality, but I believe their underwater fleet is all diesel.

I think Russia or China has the largest Sub navy other than the US (the soviets always had a bigger navy). Most dangerous, I'd have to say the Chinese and Russians again. The russians are starting to rebuild their navy as a whole, and the Chinese are definately building up their navy too. Neither country is all that friendly to us at the moment.
I don't think it's anything to worry about though. From what I know, the Chinese boats are old Russian ones and they only have a few "advanced" subs. The Russians are still having a hard time funding their navy, so they don't have many subs advanced beyond 1980's tech.
That and the US is still a formidable enough naval power that no one would attempt a full on attack on any of it; not unless they had quite the alliance built up against us.

China has a diesel-electric attack submarine that is so quiet the US Navy cannot detect it.One of these subs recently surfaced in the Pacific close to the USS Kitty Hawk. The Navy admitted it had not detected the Chinese sub and acknowledged it could have launched missiles or torpedoes at the Kitty Hawk without warning. The US Navy depends too much on sound detection.A better method of detection had better be developed soon before it is too late.Overall,Russia poses the biggest submarine threat to the US.They have excellent attack subs and are not afraid to deploy nuclear weapons on their subs. The US Navy does not deploy nuclear torpedoes on its subs. The American submarine fleet has shrunk to dangerously low levels in recent years.American subs are good but many more are needed.

Biggest ADVERSARY ? That would be ANY nation that could put together a reasonable ASW Helo-squadron with dipping sonar... You Bubbleheads HATE "black sky ASW". GOOD MPA/ASW fixed wing birds also make you nervous...
Nation with the best Subs outside the USA that we might FACE? I'd go with the Russian Kilo, German Type 210, or Russian Sierra II. WHY ? The Germans just make good subs (all diesel), and the Russians stole good info and technology and incorporated it in THEIR boats (Death to the Walkers)!
The Chinese nucs were so damned loud in the 1990's I would let students track them... Hello Mr Han (SSN-405), come out and play with The Kitty Again someday. I don't know how far they've improved in the last decade.

The correct answer is that outside of the US the Russians still have the most advanced submarine production. China, to correct a statement above, buys their submarines from Russia... they do not manufacture there own. However, they have a relatively large fleet of modern russian manufactured nuclear powered subs.
(as a final note: the USSR no longer exists by that name... the soviets are still currently independent nations)
EDIT: yes, i'm well aware that they experimented with modern sub production, but that ended in the early 1980s with the production of a mere two of their most modern subs they ever made. All their most recent subs have been good old russian made.

Zoroastric and Manichaeic effect on Judaism, as nicely because of the fact the Alexandrian/Roman god-king theology, which made the relationship between god and state a ethical undertaking. The Babylonian and Egyptian, as nicely because of the fact the old Jewish connection between god and state were genuinely amoral: it became no longer something yet a strategic partnership between a god and a people/king. yet Alexander the super and later the Roman emperors weren't only people who had struck a manage the main useful god: they have been gods themselves with a divine undertaking. Christian theodicy is as plenty a historical past of Alexander and Zoroaster because it relatively is of Moses. in reality it fuses those 3 factors of view, only like Alexander had fused the Egyptian thought of the god-king with the greek thought of human self-decision, and extra his very own attitude of a worldwide empire. From then on retaining the status quo became only no longer good sufficient for each physique, because of the fact curiously this status quo would desire to get replaced continually with the help of somebody. So no faith would desire to any further be accompanied satisfactorily if it only defined the status quo: it had to grant a resourceful and prescient for the destiny. and clearly to understand this resourceful and prescient some hindrances had to be triumph over, set up with the help of an adversary that had to have supernatural powers as nicely if he would desire to relatively stand a possibility against a supernatural undertaking. enter the devil. No single guy or woman has desperate Christianity, and definitely the whole Euro-Arabic international, extra advantageous than Alexander. i do no longer think of that any style of devil performed a function in his worldview, yet the two the fulfillment and the failure of his undertaking asked for a proof in terms of evil.

Surface combatants and aircraft have always been the greatest threat due to their speed, and the range, power, and quantity of their weapons, and (in the case of aircraft) their immunity to counterattack. Even the quietest submarine is going to make a racket when active sonobuoys ping it.

There isn't really a sub threat to the US. Yes the Russians have a few aging relics left from the cold war, but they haven't put a new fish in the water for many many years.
China has a shiny new sub that makes so much noise that you can hear it without the aid of hydrophones
