Realistically, where do you think Dale Jr. will be in the driver stats at the end of his career? Taking into consideration his age and what he has do so far in his career. Remembering the direction Nascar is moving today. I know he is the most popular driver, but what do you think his stats will look like as compared to other drivers in the modern era!

Crunch, your answer makes sense! But only if you think there is a third era!!! You can't create an era just because Nascar made a change or we would be in the 50th era!!!

Crunch, thanks for the source! I didn't know that another era had alraedy begun! I'll be asking a question about that in the coming days and use your source in the question. The reason I'm going to ask it is because I don't think everyone agrees with it! But you never know! Again Thanks!

He is probably in the top 15 now, if he wins a championship or two and gets 30 more wins or so he could end up in the top 10.only time will tell. He is at HMS in 2008, I hoping for some great results from Dale Jr.

With the advent of the Chase, we are now in the Post Modern Era.

Junior is only 33, which is typically the age that Earnhardt's really begin to turn it up a couple of notches. Senior had only 9 wins before his 33rd birthday. That means Senior won 67 races between the ages of 33 and 49 and he was still winning races at 49.

He was just shy of being 49.5 years old when he won his last race at Talladega, coming from 18th with less than 4 laps to go.

Junior had 17 wins before his 33rd birthday and has gone through two very lean years, only 1 win in 2 full seasons, just like his Dad, before he started to break out with consistancy.

Junior still has a great chance to become the best of the Post Modern Era.

For example, only 3 drivers have won Cups in the Post Modern Era and nobody has more than 2.

In the Post Modern Era, so far, Gordon and Junior are tied with 0 cups each.

While I have no idea what the future holds for Jr. I can say that since he started full time in the cup series there are only 3 drivers with a better record and 2 of those are now team mates. All Time Modern Era? I don' believe you can compare the current format to the way it was pre-chase. If not for the chase Jeff Gordan would have 6 championships instead of 4.
If I had to predict I would have to say solidly in the top 10.

He will need to win about 30 more races in his career to be in company like Bill Elliott and Rusty Wallace. Jeff Gordon has 81 wins which is 64 more than Junior and he's only 3 years older. Jimmie Johnson has 33 winds and he's a year younger than Junior. Personally, I think he will probably finish with 30 or so wins, and there are a lot of drivers who would die for that, but Junior was supposed to be the next Jeff Gordon. He isn't.

As of right now in his career, he is nothing special for the stats book except for a few special events. Otherwise he is nothing to really look at and consider the "Modern Era Master." Now since he has moved to Hendrick Motorsports, he will have a chance to be able to show off his stuff and be able to attempt to win a lot more races and/or championships. For right now, he is just a popular race car driver and that is really the biggest thing that he can talk about.

He's probably somewhere in the top 15 right now and maybe close to the top 10 for current drivers that are full time in the cup series. We will have to see what he can accomplish at HMS before we rank him amongst ALL modern era drivers. He would probably be lucky to make the top 25 modern era drivers when it's all said and done. He will be compared to his dad, Rusty, DW, Awesome Bill and all the others since 1972 so he definitely has his work cut out for himself.

Jr is nothing but over blown hipe. He's not his dad. Everybody thinks this guy can walk on water. Compare his stats to Gorden or Johnson or Stewart. Which by the way I can't stand and of those tally wackers. The media has pump this guy up so far he's going to implode. I'm not saying he's not a nice guy. I like the guy. But hey he will never be a Petty be will always be the KING

Hard to tell as the story is still being told. I think that no matter what his name will give him more credit than is deserved. His stats speak for them selves. NASCAR fans are very biased when it comes to deciding who is the best. Obviously no fan wants to say his favorite driver is a looser. So weather or not JR is a good driver his fan base and his ability to put butts in the seat will put him in the record books.

its gonna be odd cuz we have the so called "Modern Era" and the CHASE....The CHASE is kinda skrewing with the consistency and total points championships....Anyway, unless JR. wins some races and Championships it will be hard to rank him with the top performers. JJ, JG, TS, MK....these guys have been good at winning and staying up front(ahead of dale JR.)

It is hard to tell right now, but I think that his stats will be improving. I think he should be able to surpass Mark Martin, but he will not be able to catch Gordon or his father. He should end up somewhere between Rusty Wallace and Buddy Isaac as far as wins go (on all time win list). I see him with the possibility of three championships, maybe four.
