Start taking long walks. Weight lifting will build muscle, but endurance training, coupled with a healthier diet, will help reduce fat. Take a half hour walk every day to start for two weeks, then up that to an hour. Eat a good breakfast and lunch, cut down on dinner, don't snack after dinner, and only snack on healthy snacks (fruit, carrot sticks, etc.) when you snack. Work on dropping 3 lbs/week. If you do that, you'll lose 60 lbs in 5 months, 72 lbs in 6 months.

The short answer is, "Strength training, aerobics, and diet".
Here's the details:
For an average adult, each pound of fat requires a calorie deficit of 3,600 calories. That means you need to spend 3,600 calories more than you eat to lose a pound. Being 16, you might get a slight bonus, meaning it is a little easier at that age than when you get older.
Losing wieght is hard -- if you stopped eating completely( not even a coke -- only water ), you would expend about 1,500 calories a day, maybe 2,000 if you walk a lot. So, the fastest you could lose weight( without a disease ) would be a pound every 2 days. In this situation, your body would go into starvation mode, and metabolize muscle first ( The body wants to preserve fat at all costs -- it'll sacrifice anything else first ). Making the fat loss rate slow down.
So, the best diet in the world ( complete starvation ) will only do 1 pound every 2 days, and only for a short while. After a few weeks, your metabolism would slow, and it would do a pound of fat every 3 or 4 days. It's dangerous -- such a diet could kill you from malnutrition.
The other option is to excercise a lot. I mean a whole lot. If you started running a few miles a day, every day, you could easily create a large calorie deficit. 1 hour of jogging is about 4-500 calories. If you ran 7 hours a day without eating anything extra, you would lose a pound of fat a day!
If you build muscle through weight lifting, then your metabolic rate will go up. you'll burn more calories just sitting around doing nothing. The more muscle, the better the effect.
Also, human weight naturally fluctuates a few pounds a day, just due to water/food/etc...And muscle weighs 7 times more than fat.
So, if you want to lose a lot of weight fast, then:
1. Build muscle ( improves metabolic rate )
2. Do a lot of aerobics( Burns calories )
3. Limit your calorie intake

You didn't say if you were male or female. Going to the gym regularly is fine, but since you've lost 3 pounds, just how long have you been attending the gym? Working out will tone your muscles & burn calories; but what is also important is the makeup of your day to day food intake.
Trim all fat off meat prior to cooking, and it's very important to remove the skin from chicken prior to cooking too. Do not add butters or eat gravies. Reduce your carbs, but don't cut them out entirely. Eliminate white breads, in favour of whole wheat. Low-fat milk products and yogurts help too. Plenty of fruit and vegetables are healthy choices.
There is no magic way of losing weight FAST unless you've become ill or something else is wrong. Increasing your activities and cutting calories in the ways I've suggested will definitely help you to lose weight. If you were to lose the weight too quickly, you wouldn't look well. Slow, steady weight loss is always better. I don't suggest you weigh yourself every day. You'll know you're starting to lose weight by the looseness of your clothing. Try weighing yourself only about 2-3 times per week. Keep in mind, water retention may not move the scales downward, but that doesn't mean you're not losing body fat.
Good luck!!...You'll do well if you concentrate on healthy eating.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

You can not lose weight "FAST". Unless of course, you like the sound of saggy skin, heart failure and brittle bones. Oh, and of course every dieter's worst nightmare, slowed metabolism.
The only way to lose weight healthily is steadily. Healthy weight loss is about 1-2 lbs a week, of course this may not apply to certain circumstances. Eat well. by this I mean:
1.) Consume you BMR (how many calories your body uses without you participating in any activity) in calories per day.
2.) DO NOT cut out entire food groups without first consulting your doctor.
3.)Get enough fruit, veg, protein, fat, carbs etc. Carbs are not the enemies - your body needs them!
4.)Drink plenty of water - about 2 - 2.5 litres a day.
Exercise. Cardio burns fat, weights/toning will not, however, it will improve your muscles, but in order to lose weight/inches, you need to lose the excess fat.
Examples of good cardio exercises are: swimming, running, cycling, playing tennis and rope jumping (my personal favorite).
Do not be worried if you gain some weight, it may only be that your muscles (which are heavier than fat, but take up less room) have developed due to your exercise, but you will see and feel a difference in both your image and your health.
Don't forget to pay your doctor a visit, they can advise and support you through your weight loss.

You need to eat right and exercise. The gym is not needed. Buy an exercise ball for the house and a set of dumbells. Take walks every morning or night, walking fast going farther each time. Sit on the exercise ball when watching TV, stretching, leaning back and practicing perfect posture.
Food: eat three meals and dont snack. No Soda's, not even diet. Drink water or tea. Eat honey nut cheerios for breakfast. Buy whole wheat bread and eat turkey and mustard with pickles. Try not to eat much bread. No cheese or fried foods. If you have to eat fast food, eat a plain hamburger with onions and ketchup. No fries.
Good Luck. I lost 50 lbs in 6 months.

it isn't impossible to lose that amount of weight, but it would take drastic measures. Eat no more than 1000 calories a day, along with at least on hour, straight, of cardio, and some weight training on a daily basis. But beware....those who take these drastic measures usually put the wieght back on and then some. To measure success would be to lose no more than 2 lbs a week. Your body cannot metabolize more fat than that per week. A more practical solution would be to eat 1600 calories a week, high, but lowfat protien with lots of veggies, with 1/2 hour of cardio daily and doing weight training, starting light, 3 times a week, with days off in between. The weight will come off automatically if you stick to this, and this is something that can be maintained once you get to goal...good luck. And also take a multi-vitamin daily with iron if you are female.

look, im not an expert, but i can try to give you advice that might help you out if you want to lose weight. First off, you already know that fat isnt going to fall off although that would be nice. Try doing cardio vascular activities such as running, swimming, tennis, any type of sport. if you dont like sweating or feeling heat, i suggest swimming. To me though cardio with 1-8 pounds will work just fine. dieting also helps, and this doesnt mean you have to starve yourself to reach your goal, trust me i tried, and it only made the situation worse. plan an eating schedule....instead of 3 large meals a day, try 5 SMALL ones a day. if you want, add green tea and peppers to your meals, they boost your metabolism.....
if you want to know anything else, feel free to ask me cuz ill try to give you answers as best as i can
i really dont want to type too much so yea haha
have a gr8 wk!

Do it healthy!! You are young and should not be dropping weight. Eat balanced diets, fruits, veggies, and PROTEIN! Do not use pills or anything like that, they will eventually make you weak and take away any muscle mass. I would suggest burning more calories then you take in.....try dropping down to 1500 cals and working out once a day. Make sure you do cardio and weight training. If you are a dancer you have to be strong. Good luck. Be smart, if you want to be a dancer, you have to be

You can do it one of several ways. Correctly, losing 1-2 pounds a week; fast, drinking fruit smoothies made with fruit (no sugar), protein powder, yogurt and no fat milk; or cut out one meal a day.
It's a known fact by recent studies that taking in fewer calories a day leads to longevity as well as weight loss.
