When I was made go to confession back in primary school, you always had to say "Help me to live like Jesus".

Maybe that’s not such a good idea?

Jesus lived as a man and performed all of the customary duties as King of the Jews, according to the customs and standards of his time. A king's primary obligation is to produce an heir. He could not be the legitimate King of the Jews had he not done so. Proof that he did lies in the fact that his brother James did not ascend after the crucifixion which absolutely would have happened had Jesus not left an heir.

Preists in the RC church live, not as Jesus, but as Paul, who was a total freak of nature. Eastern Orthodox priests are expected to have wives and families.

"to live like Jesus" -

Since Jesus' life on earth is considered as an example of a Godlike life, and he himself as the symbol of a perfected man, to live like Jesus is like saying, I shall try to live a perfect and Godly life. And such a conviction must come from your inner core, where the spirit of Truth dwells to inspire you what to do, what to say, and how to see and understand the many things that come your way.

Everyone is different from Jesus; everybody is just uniquely different from each other. We have others and we have Jesus to 'inspire' us to do what is right. However, it is just fitting that we imbibe his spirit and those who live Godly lives, and experience the life-giving grace that such a practice may give us as we integrate them into our own life-setting with a sense of responsibility over our own unique calling.

Yes, it's a bad idea since it asks you to do the impossible, that is, it asks you and everyone to live like God which is 100% impossible, at least according to the Bible.

God is God and He's the only one to worship.

According to the Book of Mormon/whatever, a person eventually can become a God over another planet/whatever. So if a Mormon is encouraged to live like God/whatever/be God/that's doable under the non-profit faith of Mormonism.

To mimic Jesus is foolish but to imitate Him is the Heavenly Life and we can do the latter in our unique daily lives by grace.
