I believe in moderation the Internet as well as anything else is OK.
If one chooses to only spend time on the Internet that person is isolating him/herself from the day to day contact with the outside world.

sure it can because now you can have all the interaction you want without being around a single person
for example i am agoraphobic before the Internet i would have had to leave the house to go grocery shopping and to rent movies ex ex
but now, i can order everything online and have it delivered to my house..if i didn't have to physically see my doctors i could live without ever stepping foot out of the house no problem but everything i need is obtainable through the Internet

No. A loner could come onto yahoo answers for example and have friends.

I have met hundreds of friends, a quite a few partners, a lot of hookups even from overseas and a spouse from the internet. I guess it just depends on how you use it.

I think it does, because people are social animals that yearn for affection. And affection is all but lost when it's traversed via the internet...

i guess, the internet makes it seem like people have more friends than they do. eg myspace: people take pictures with eachother and post them, have a top 8, and a large amount of "friends" usually its just they put people on these if theyve met them once..
