Cats eat a very high protein diet, and so dogs, who love protein rich foods, love cat poop. This is not unusual. I once had a roommate who was not disciplined, who had a dog and a cat who were not disciplined. The cat preferred the floor under the dining room table to the litter pan for solid wastes, and the dog was always trolling for snacks. I'll give you ten guesses why I cannot to this day eat lamb chops.
There is a substance, an additive, something you can sprinkle on your cat's food that makes her poop unappealing as snack food. I know I saw it several years ago, but i had no need for it. I think I saw it a www.drsfostersmith.com, but maybe it's available at PetSmart. I have no idea how well it works, but you can check it out.

"People tend to be horrified to find their dog is eating feces from the cat litter box. One of the first questions they ask is whether this means the dog has a nutritional deficiency. Since the behavior is common even in the most well nourished dogs, the fact that they like the taste is a more likely reason. It's not a good idea to allow it to happen, and training is not a reliable option for a behavior that provides the dog with a 'tasty treat'-tasty to the dog, that is. "

My Rat Terrier used to do the same thing.
You can use cayenne pepper on the poop in the box. This is what our vet suggested, and it worked. Don't sprinkle the whole box just the poop.
I have also used it for the trash, too. He stays out of the trash now too.

Because your cat has been eating rats. A delicasy to this strain of terrior. ha ha. Just joking. My dogs do it too. Ithink it's because dogs can derive nutrition from other animals feces. Gross though. Plus, the litter has chemicals. It can't be good for them to ingest. I've trained my dog not to do it by spankin her when she starts nosing around the cat box.

Not unusual. Probably lacking something in his diet. Ask your vet he/she will probably prescribe a vitamin supplement.
Some dogs just like cat poop or any other poop they can find.

Its a Territorial thing
my dog does the same thing because my mom is always in the laundry room (were the cat boxes are) so the dog thinks 'this is mom's and/or dad's area. they are mine. i must protect what is mine. that's not mine!' and because they cant move it any other way, that's what they do.
(also, the thing about dog mouth vs. human mouth, dog mouth does NOT win. its a tie)
