Because it is generic repository of universal spiritual knowledge, which seers have got in their deep meditation. Or we can say revealed by God in their deep meditation.

Also ancient Indian people have done sufficient research on Adhyatam (study of self and God). Adhyatam was the base for materialism and way of life. Each individual has different temperament and can choose what ever path s/he likes.

Vedanta, although many people attach it with hinduism, is the basic principle of religions.

Vedanta is not about hinduism, it is about God ... God who is only one and one alone.

But since many religions, and some sects of hinduism, believe in creation by god, they do not digest the highest truth of Vedanta.

Vedanta says god does not Create Universe... He becomes Universe.

If Vedanta philosophy is truely understood by all, there will be no religious hatered, no religious violence...

as "Sarvam Khalvidam Bramh" all that is ..is Bramh (god)...thus declares Vedanta.

There is no second....whom to fight with ??

I don't think it is the base of all religions, just one of the earliest expressions of the base, which is the need to believe in an external higher power.
