one of the best depression/anxiety reliever i can recommend is exercise.. it takes your focus off what's bothering you and hey it's just good in general.. exercise also releases serotonin, dopamine and a few other nuerotransmitters in your brain.. serotonin helps you sleep and dopamine is related to pleasure and happiness.. those chemicals i just mentioned are the ones that your brain lacks when depressed/stressed.. exercise helps to balance them.. this has been clinically proven to work faster and longer than medication.. simply taking a twenty minute walk each day could really help..
exercise also releases endorphins.. the body's natural pain killers.. this is related to "runner's high"..
other than exercise you could try deep breathing, muscle relaxation techniques, meditation, yoga, listening to music, writing in a journal, or talking to a friend about it.. i also drink ungodly amounts of tea.. haha..
get a good social support network.. talk to a friend or family member about how you feel..
take time out for yourself each day.. to just reflect, relax, and settle your thoughts.. do things that relax you and that you enjoy..
warm milk also helps to produce serotonin.. so maybe drinking a glass before you go to sleep may help..
try to get at least an hour of sunlight each day.. this also helps to balance your brain chemistry and produces serotonin..
when you lie down to sleep, concentrate on your breathing.. just keep a steady inhale and exhale.. in through your nose and out through your mouth.. this will help to calm your heart rate and hopefully help you sleep.. do this anytime you feel yourself getting anxious also..
eat a healthy diet.. and drink lots of water.. and try to get a proper amount of sleep..
if you tend to put yourself down, don't be hard on yourself.. try to make a list of things you love about youself.. if you feel that you cannot make the list, then have a friend or family member make it for you.. when you start to put yourself down or feel bad, pull the list out and read it.. remind yourself that you're special and deserve to feel as such..
i really hope this helps.. and best of luck..

Hi,
Pl. try following tips for stress reduction:
Be realistic. Don't take on everything; learn to say no. Set realistic goals for yourself. If you are feeling overwhelmed, try eliminating an activity that is not absolutely necessary. Ask yourself, "What really needs to be done? Is the deadline realistic?" No one is perfect, so do not expect perfection from yourself or others. And ask for help if you need it.
Visualize. Take a moment to picture how you can manage a stressful situation more calmly and successfully.
A visual rehearsal can boost self-confidence and help you have a more positive attitude toward a difficult task.
Take one thing at a time. When you start to feel overwhelmed, try taking one task at a time. Make a list of things you need to do. Put the most urgent task at the top. Once you have accomplished it, cross it off and move on to the next one. The positive feeling of crossing things off can help keep you motivated.
Exercise. Regular exercise is a great way to reduce stress, and it benefits the body as well as the mind. Just 20–30 minutes of physical activity a day can do the trick.
Get involved in hobbies. Take a break from the stressors of life and do something you really enjoy. Try gardening, painting, or reading. Schedule time to indulge your interests.
Practice a healthful lifestyle. Eating healthfully will make a difference. Make sure you get adequate rest and exercise, and that you balance work and play.
Share your feelings. Talking about things can help you feel better. A conversation with someone can help you relax.
Be Happy

Be in your true self always without trying to become somebody else however great that other 'model' may be as one can never be the other! Discover from your own experiences by turning an 'eye' within the one which relaxed you yet exalted you, love gushing to all around you ( "peak experiences") and try to pursue that, develop it by taking courses on it if required, make that your job wherein you get into a situation in which you love that work, seek it always as it lifts you up,gives joy and ease and of course relaxation. The real self can harm none, contradict none.Being true to oneself - what one truly is -is a state fully free of any stress!

nothing like a 20 minute mild aerobic workout (swimming, jogging, cycling etc) or if not try yoga and meditation......these are for your immediate relief, ...............but on the long run its your mind that matters ,its the perspective that matters, u can train yourself to be relaxed and calm at times of adversity, with zero stress u can solve problems better....to avoid stress make workouts a part of your daily routine....bingo it works

It's often been said that "Stress is the mind's overriding the body's natural urge to choke the living heck out of some one who so desperately deserves it."
With this in mind, we need to learn to mentally let go of somethings which bother us at the time that they are bothering us. Allowing our mind to NOT control the body. or visa versa.

There are many ways of overcoming stress.
Exercising is maybe the best way. It releases endorpins, which gives you a high.
Also, meditation, there are many ways, not just one.
doing something enjoyable - crafts, playing music, reading.
