Depends on your skin color. Lighter types might not show or it might be a little pink scar. Darker skin usually shows about a one step deeper than the normal complexion scar. Depending on your body as well and how long you have had it in, it might close or not. If you are planning to get a belly ring and hope that it might close after you decide you no longer want it, it will of course take time to heal as all punctures to the skin do.

The hole should heal up completely in about a month and probably will leave a small scar. Your scar will probably be small and in detectable if you have and inny and the hole was near the fold or crease of the top of your bellybutton.
I have a former piercing scar and no one can tell even though my belly button is more of a surface-y than an inny.

plain like a normal belly button , with say a small mark from piercing .
if you have your belly button pierced your better off just keeping it in if you went to the trouble of piercing it.

I actually just took out my belly ring after having it in for over ten years.
I have what looks like a dimple above my navel but you can't see the hole inside the navel.
It looks pretty ridiculous, honestly, but to me it's better than the belly ring now that I'm older.
If you are considering piercing your navel I wouldn't recommend it (from personal experience).

It looks just like a regular belly button. When a piercing isn't in, you can't really see the hole. Look at people with pierced ears. When they aren't wearing earrings, unless you look closely, you can't tell they have pierced ears.

It looks like a hole, which is darker than the rest of the skin. You can still see it. I know b/c I just did it a few months ago. The hole is big enough to see, but not big enough to put the post back in. I was kind of disappointed.
