I am working on a speech about stopping global warming, and I need to tell people why we have global warming.

Global Warming isn't real. The damage to the enviroment is. The Earth is tilted and slowly waables in its oribit. The tilt is responsable for the seasons. The waable is responsable for things like Ice ages and the warm ups. Which we are still currently going through! Not only that but you have to factor in that the sun sometimes burns just a tiny bit hotter every now and then...
The waable was responsable for that famos year... The year without summer in Europe... I forget when that was but it was a long time ago...

It is amazing that the whole global warming trend is a statistical number game when you come to realize that all the measuring equipment has a +/-.5 degree error and they say the earth has warmed up .1 degree. Just remember that the average deviation on the thermometers used is +/- .5 degrees. and they try to average out the data. You can’t get a better result using coarser data. That’s a fact. If they don’t have data for a day/month they just “add” data to fill in the missing spots. So most of the time the data they use is data that has been corrupted to fit the results that global warming is real. So what can tell us if we are facing a global climate change? The answer has always been in the tree's (No kidding it is called growth rings) a unbiased record that proves that it just a cyclic event. No scientist has used growth rings (as far as I know) to prove global warming. Reason: some of the redwoods in California are as old as 1000 years. And yes they prove that the climate shifts from time to time each century, without the intervention of man. I just think it is funny that the GW crowd's favorite data set is now 8 years old that proves global warming and when they start adding in the data after 1999-2007 the whole trend is lost. How do you think the research scientists get paid to do their job? It is by the person or group or company that has the biggest gain from their “Research” Sad but true. Just remember that research scientists don’t do their work for free. Right now the biggest grants being handed out "Courtesy of the UN and the US Congress" is for research into Global Warming How much is Al Gore getting paid in kickbacks in the "Carbon Offset" company he owns? Why would you disprove something if by doing so you stop getting paid? I crunched the numbers on the buoy data that "proves global warming" guess what, they use a 8 year old data set to prove their facts! Once you figure in the next 8 years their global warming goes out the window. If you want to do a report that will help the earth talk about the Atlantic and Pacific Gyres. Google Pacific Gyre and see the damage done in the oceans in the vast area of open water. After seeing them first hand and the lack of algae and seaweed, Trash floating for miles and the sea clouded with plastic, it is enough to tear your soul out. The gyre areas where once some of our best CO2 filtration sites, along with the deforestation of the rain forests to produce bio fuel and the CO2 production related, Man has had a larger impact on the CO2 cycle by filling the gyres with plastic. I have always wondered why the Eco crowd has neglected these areas. Just because they are out of sight and out of mind to most of them, does not mean that they should be forgotten. Of course there is little money in Gyre clean up, you can’t sell Plastic offsets to the general public. Do your homework and realize what an inquiring mind will find when it is free of bias, The global warming crowd has always been about making money, they let the press talk about it, and the government to fund bad science.

With the exception of Bravozulu, I think they let out the loonybin. The degree of ignorance is staggering. If you know nothing about the subject, why answer. The answer is that the media spreads so much propaganda that many lay people think they know something about it but they don't. Global warming generally means man caused warming. As bravozulu said, that might be a degree (it is debatable). Most of the warming is natural. That degree is certainly less than the natural warming and cooling trends. Greenhouse gases tend to warm the colder days more than the warmer days and warm the night time temperatures. It acts to moderate the temperature. Global warming should in fact be called global moderation but that wouldn't fit the alarmist agenda.

People are some of the cause of global warming, but there is some pole shifting going on coming from an outer planetary intrusion heading into our neighborhood. Mars is also having a global warming issue and there are no people there. You can check JPL and Nasa, it will prove my point.

Don't forget to mention one of the major flaws in the 'Green house gas' "THEORY".

Their "Theory" = Green house gases go into upper atmosphere and 'trap' heat from escaping earth.

A major problem with the CO2 - Global Warming ‘THEORY’.
From the CO2 section of this web page: http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/Hazards/What/VolGas/volgas.html
“Carbon dioxide gas is heavier than air and the gas can flow into in low-lying areas; breathing air with more than 30% CO2 can quickly induce unconsciousness and cause death. In volcanic or other areas where CO2 emissions occur, it is important to avoid small depressions and low areas that might be CO2 traps. The boundary between air and lethal gas can be extremely sharp; even a single step upslope may be adequate to escape death.”

CO2 'might' definitely act to trap heat at very near ground level.

You don't NEED to tell anybody because it IS NOT A PROBLEM. You are being lied to. Humans account for less that a degree. If you are in the north, it is 12 degrees outside instead of 11 degrees. Does that really sound important or life changing? Does that mean you won't need a jacket or does it mean that you couldn't tell the difference without a thermometer.

There is a good bit of political hype about it, especially from Al Gore. I think many groups are trying to use it as a hate America campaign and many local politicians are using it to feather their own nest. The earth, long before man was a factor in the cycles had global warming and cooling. The effects of the glaciers during the ice age are proof of that.

Yes. There are a lot of programs on TV that deal with your question. The main cause is Fossil Fuels. Restrict your use of Autos, Electricity, and use less of everything. Over population is the main problem. We use far to much of everything releasing hydrocarbons into the atmosphere causing the atmosphere to hold in more heat.

Look at our cities.....the traffic is caused by an explosion of population, the housing market is driven by greed, forcing people to buy homes far from work.....they have to work where they can earn enough, and they have to live where they can afford it.

All of this creates bad traffic, idling cars in stop and go traffic create more green house gases than do cars running steadily at speeds....now consider the urban areas and their populations....

Also consider home and electricity use....yards typically have less trees due to people not wanting to rake leaves etc....this affects temps during summer.....so they use AC more....all of the gadgets have a sleep mode...which uses 30% of the power during normal use....homes have lots of gadgets nowadays....multiply that times the number of homes in the US and then world wide....

The cycle goes on and on

You need to study this planet's entire history. There have been many warming and cooling cycles in the past. And these cycles will continue long after we are all dead.
