Why is it so bad to not believe? Or even to question contradictions to a particular faith? Why does it personally offend people? I don't get angry when other's question my Spiritual beliefs. I am looking for the truth, and trying to understand why all of the time.

Don't let anyone get you down, Christian, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Agnostics, ect. All have the right to their beliefs and no one should try make another person feel bad about their beliefs and we are humans and have curiosity. Asking about other Faiths should not be offensive to someone but rather show that person or people that you have an open mind. If you asked me why I was Jewish I would tell you and that would be all. I would not trash you for asking I would thank you for listening. I also would not try to make you believe what I do. I hope you find some comfort in my response.

Faith was invented because Religious Extremist are short on facts. Since most reasonable people would like reasonable explanations before they believe something, when you don't buy the "Ya gotta have" faith crap, they have no valid position.

In effect, you are challenging their own faith, which they can't explain but are comfortable with in their secure little mind prison. You're rocking their boat.

Any true faith should withstand any examination.

It's like telling your best friend her husband is cheating on her. She gets made at you, even if you have undeniable proof.

It's a classic case of killing the messenger because you don't like the message.

Because it makes a person question their own beliefs maybe. People would rather be blissfully ignorant of the contradictions of their faith. I for one know what I do, and do not believe, and everyone is free to have their own ideas in my opinion.

For years we've had the "silent majority" touted because of the fact the backbone of our subculture. those are the individuals who supposedly do no longer question the origins of their perception gadget or the strikes of the government and as a result, for some, characterize the final recommendations-set of the rustic. together as i do no longer think of that's rather real, it does bring about the question of basically what do they make contributions interior the way of believing as they do, and how they shift that perception gadget to house todays advances in our society. At the two ends of the spectrum in faith and technology there ought to be extremism to stimulate the progression of the two. I see right here the situation that technology has some distance handed the non secular in that progression. together as technology is an open ended proposition, faith isn't for tens of millions. New theory Spirituality is an attempt to replace the non secular with using quantum physics and the rejection of the classic "photograph of God" as that is been depicted for hundreds of years. Extremism although, does not ought to be crashing airplanes and such, basically speculative theory. Our race expertise, or that that's imprinted in our perception gadget over generations, is partly to blame for how we expect of and look at issues. We have faith as our mothers and fathers do, our buddies, our faith until one among those time as we launch that and pass to severe theory and question that which does no longer make experience to us. Indifference could be what Sam Harris is speaking approximately. We do exactly no longer prefer to fret approximately those issues because of the fact we sense we've not have been given any ability to alter them.

When your beliefs are so shaky that you need to be so intense about them, you cannot tolerate the least amount of scrutiny, and cannot stand the smallest of doubt (whether it is external or internal). It is a shame, but religious "extremists" can't accept any challenges their faith because they are frantically trying to reassure themselves in their every action about why they should keep that faith.

It is not bad to not believe. You are entilited to your own opinion and should not feel pressured by anyone to change your beliefs. People get easily offended for many reasons, and religious extremists tend to do so more often, I have found. They think they are right and anyone who does not share their beliefs will go to hell. Everyone needs to be 'saved' in thier eyes.
We are in the same boat. I don't believe in God, but am a spiritual person. I am a good person, I just don't go to church. I get questioned about my 'faith' all the time. We just need to be strong and stand our ground.

I don't feel like I am in need of 'saving'.

Good luck!

i don't know why the get angry. it might be because they are so strongly rooted in their faith, that they cannot fathom how some one can not be that strong....that's only my guess.
I encourage you to question and explore your faith, and make a decision that is well informed and true for you. If you decide that your faith is something you agree with then it will be stronger. If its something that you decide you don't agree with then that's okay too. As long as it is your decision.

They get angry about it? Then they don't really have faith in the truth of their faith, so to speak. They are putting their faith in details. They don't believe God can withstand his creatures' explorations. Silly.

There's nothing wrong with obtaining knowledge. If you're asking politely, there shouldn't be a problem. Some people just get defensive when you ask about religion or politics. A nice person won't be that way with you. They know the saying, "Ask and you shall recieve"

People are just weird!
I also find it interesting to look at different beliefs - seems to me if we all tried to understand each other's and our own beliefs then we'd all be better off.
Some may get upset if they don't know the answer to your question, or perhaps you may need to rethink how you are posing the question.
