I walked down the street the other day, little boy was selling puppies. I asked him what kind of puppies they were, the boy smiled and said "liberal" puppies. I'm a staunch republican lol, so I smiled. I told my neighbor when I got home about them--thought he'd get a kick out of it--he's a staunch liberal. My neighbor walked down to the same place, and with a knowing nod asked the boy what kind of puppies they were. The little boy replied--conservative puppies. Chagrined, my neighbor said--but yesterday they were liberal puppies--kid said--yes I know, but last night they opened their eyes.

Gays are no longer any greater perverted or some thing - it rather is to the troll who's talked approximately as TexasJew. The evil is the homophobia it rather is shown via applying bigots like those indoors of this thread, some gay christians comprehend God is love in evaluation to the bigots. some christians can and do say that this is powerful and don't see the challenge and then ask your self why human beings reject christians and faith. the fundies and distinctive homophobes are incorrect Edit: God created Adam and Steve yet there's a typo indoors the bible which misses out the 'st' of Steve

Because the Bible in many ways prescribes actions which are by nature conservative, and therefore give conservatives the opportunity to easily fall back to a position of, "The Bible says soooo, nyah nyah!" if they're beginning to lose an argument.

In my experience conservatives are more likely to cling to doctrine with all their might to prevent themselves from thinking freely about something. If it seems wrong, shut it out of the mind rather than ponder all sides of the issue.

Conservatives who use the bible to justify bigotry or any other sin, aren't true Christians.

Your question is based on an overly generalized premise. I've seen Bible verses quoted effectively to dispel bigotry as well as to promote it.

I rather enjoy seeing the Word used to shut the mouth.

Because liberals are uncomfortable making Biblical references - a conservative can just piont out that they only use verses that are convenient to their argument but ignore what they don't like.

I can, have, do, and will continue to engage that debate fully. If slavery is wrong and evil despite the Bible legitimizing it, and if wmoen do not have to remain silent and keep their heads covered, I just can't see how any Christian has anything like certainty over homosexuality. And if you're going to quote Leviticus then we need a constitutional amendment to make sure farmer's don't plant two kinds of crops in the same field....

Because bigotry is fun, and if you can justify it, well, that's just gravy. People who try to undermine that justification are just misinterpretting the Bible....

Because liberals tend not to use the bible for political gain.

Maybe they should though, it will give the two-issue voters (gay marriage/abortion) something to think about. I find it odd that out of all of the valuable messages in the bible, conservative Christians only care about two. Poverty, war, and torture are all rationalized by Christian Right.

Maybe its easier to appeal to the darker side of human nature.

Frankly, I think neither group has any business using the bible in political discussions. It should have no bearing on who is a better leader.
