Jesus was crucified, condemned to death by the mob. Modern day humans are so out of touch of their own spirituality and soul that they expend much time waffling, talking, ranting, rather than getting in touch with the self soul. You may call it the soul, the spirit, the conscience, or God. A lack of human interaction or inability to correctly communicate enduring values and principles to a broad range of persons usually means that whatever preacher you have become disillusioned by need to find alternative occupation or have another pep talk with his unbeliever.

Not the religious right but modernism in general. Modernists claim they know all - the world can be explained by a reductive monistic model and conveniently, they alwaus have it and you don't. Post-moderns see truths in multiple ways of life and so modernists look like complete delusionals. I am a post-modern Christian, but Christianity itself, as with any religion that claims to be the only truth, does not lend itself well to that combination....

It certainly has something to do with the travesties their followers commit in their names. It says nothing of diety, just the imperfect creation.

There not, Christianity is still growing, just at a slower rate then before. It is not on the "downside" until there becomes a net loss.
