I'm moving to a rental property that has a dish and connections... can I just get a box of some sort to receive TV? Where from, how much, what channels... ? I'm not going to subscribe to SKY at the moment.

Lots of cheap sky recievers on ebay and for a one off payment you can get the sky freeview card which gives you more free channels and also more radio stations

Lol it takes more than a box and dish.

The man who fixes it all up for you puts the dish in a particular place to receive the signal, it's perfect to the centimetre.

Then you need a viewing card, which can ONLY be ordered through Sky and enables you to view sky TV with your chosen package, and all your details.

It is impossible to con them out of the channels.

You will have to subscribe if you want satellite tv. If you want other channels other than the terrestrial ones you need to get a freeview box but this has nothing to do with the dish.

Try Maplins at this site
http://www.maplins.co.uk
and use their product search
I did and get all BBC ITV regions
plus some film channels, but you need
to be a handy sort of bloke to do it.
