I know that this doesn't have anything to do with dogs but, the dog section is the one that I am most familiar with. I live in Oklahoma and if you haven't heard, we have been hit with a severe ice storm that has caused almost all of the trees in the state to become too heavy and fall onto our powerlines. My entire family along with 400,000 other customers have been out of power since Sunday evening including alot of our cities' water treatment plants and hospitals. Because I beleive in the power of prayer (no matter who you pray to ) and wanted to let everyone know about this devastating situation. So my mandatory question - Has anyone else ever been in a situation similar? I hope not!
Thank you!

Tener_b: Thats our problem too! We can't find anywhere that will allow our pets to come with us! But it'll be ok, they sleep with us by our fireplace in the living room! :0)

Yes, I live in TN and we had one like this in 1996. No power for 10-14 days in most areas. It made me appreciate modern conveniences once they were back and to keep more emergency supplies on hand. We will definitely add you to our prayer list and good luck! P.S. Keep us posted.

Yes here in Conn. we experienced Ice storm every now and then. We also had a really big one about 20 years ago which took everything with it like what your experiencing now. It took 2 weeks to get everything back up and running. I was breeding at the time and it was hell for the me and the dogs. so cold and it was necessary to keep everyone as warm as possible. Thank God we had a generator so we at least had some light and I could cook. So yes I can sympathies completely!
I hope things get much better for you soon.

Yep, had a big ice storm here in Indiana a few years back. Lost power on Tuesday morning and got it back on Friday night. House was on electric heat and man did it get cold! The water in the toilet was starting to freeze. We had to stick it out at the house because we had 4 dogs and 4 cats and no motel in the area would allow us to bring them. Most of the animals slept with us every night. Except my husky, she was like, "Finally! Cool temperatures!" LOL!
Hang in there, the power will be back soon and you'll have a great story to tell in the future.

Yes! I live in upstate NY!... They are NO fun... but once the ice thaws and it's off the roads, you'll be fine. My power was once out for an entire WEEK! Keep calling your electric company and asking them when the issue is going to be fixed. Just keep nagging them, and trust me.. they will get your power back on soon. Good luck with everything. If worst comes to worst.. go stay in a hotel that has power... if you can find one.

Yes in Oregon several years ago, and had no power for 6 days.
Thank God for camping gear, as I lived in the forest.
As food started to spoil I went to some of the churches in nearby towns to have a hot meal as even the supermarkets and convenience stores had no power either.
Good Luck

I was living in Rhode Island during the blizzard of '78. we got 84" of snow in 48 hours and nothing moved for a week. No power, but we were prepared for that. A woman down the road went into labor during the storm and her husband came and asked me to please help him. Together we delivered her baby in the dark with only one flashlight. Thank God they were both alright!
One thing I remember is how everybody suddenly became neighbors. with work and schools closed everybody seemed to find some way to help others. It was beautiful, but of course, things went back to normal when the roads finally got cleared.
Good luck to you, you're in my prayers

My parents live in Oklahoma. A few years back, their home, along with the rest of the subdivision, was destroyed by a tornado.
Things worked out OK. But it definitely makes you appreciate what's truly important.
