No, it's still THE place to risk your life for slight material gain.

You might want to ask that question, face to face, with the 4,750 who joined the Army and the 2,954 who joined the Army Reserve in the month of November.
BTW, all branches met or exceeded their enlistment quotas for that month and have consistently met or exceeded their quotas for every month since George Walker Bush was sworn in as President on January 20, 2001.

What part of the country do you live in? My part is just like it was before President Bush was elected. I live in Toledo, Ohio, it has been close to destroyed for a long time now but not as bad as Detroit.

he would be removed from place of work on the subsequent presidential election and not via the militia. we don't try this form of subject interior the U.S. yet then, we've on no account had a communist as president earlier - incompetents confident, mutually with Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford - yet no longer communist like this monstrosity we've. i'm hoping the country holds till the subsequent election so Obama may be retired.

1. we are never leaving iraq. we're still in germany, japan, korea, cuba, and the army has duty assignments for 1 year tours in egypt, saudi arabia, and kuwait.

2. even in the event of a draft... it would be a separate entity from the volunteer army. no way in hell would i, or any of my buddies, fight next to someone who was forced to be there.

3. joining the army is doing what one half of one percent of the nation can do. most people in the US are too concerned with their own agendas to take a few years out of their lives to help defend the rights and freedoms of every one else. Only to see that right being used to further agendas that ultimately end up hurting people before helping them. (i.e. congress stalling the war funding bill, which includes all yearly pay raises, because of their demanded complete withdrawal from iraq)

4. everything the american public knows about iraq is from the media. but as troop casualties lower, it gets reported less and less. for the fact that its getting better, its not as sensational as when it was a huge mess, and as a result, only gets mentioned when a stryker runs over a mine and kills a bunch of guys.

5. if you do join. dont complain when you deploy. you've known about the war for 4 1/2 years now. i've seen too many people ***** and moan about deployment who joined the army AFTER the war started. i'm headed out that way this summer for 15 months.

We've been in the middle east since WAY before Bush. Clinton kept us there. Clinton was in office 8 years and couldn't get us out, in fact made things worse.

Our country is not destroyed. And although I feel other branches are better than the Army, the military is never a dumb thing, it's a very smart way to go.

Not for you. I would think that with your keen insight and fine grasp of situations, you would last about 2 minutes before getting yourself and others around you killed.

Look at pictures of Berlin after the surrender of Germany in 1945. Now THAT was a destroyed country.

Your question is completely invalid, since Bush has NOT destroyed the United States.

I recently retired from the Army after 28 years. I'm not sorry I joined up, nor that I made as much of a career of it as I did.

But your results may vary. Offer void where prohibited.

BUSH DID NOT DESTROY OUR COUNTRY. AND IT IS SMART TO JOIN... W HAT DOES BUSH HAVE TO DO WITH THE ARMY? NOT ONE PERSON EVEN THE PRESIDENT COULD DO THAT.
HOW ABOUT YOU SUPPORT THE ARMY FOR DOING WHAT THEY DO? SO YOU DON'T LIKE BUSH...OH WELL HE WILL BE OUT OF OFFICE SOON.

**** MY POINT IS HE WILL E OUT SOON, AND WE CAN'T JUST PULL OUT OF IRAQ, IT WILL MAKE ALL THAT HAS BEEN DONE THERE WASTED!

BUT WHYS...WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS.... AS EASY AS YOU THINK IT IS TO PULL PEOPLE OUT OF IRAQ, IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN....THERE IS NO WAY, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT IF YOU WERE EVER THERE.... IT WILL TAKE TIME, THERE IS ALOT OF PROGRESS HAPPENING

Well, this is entirely my opinion but I gotta tell you, please don't take it out on the military.

Personally, I can't stand the current administration. They've politicized everything including the military, but the military and this country will survive this in the long run.

The military gave me a sense of pride, and duty, and the strength to stand up for what I believe in. I read lots of stories about "a military gone bad" in the middle east and they sadden me, but from a historical standpoint I know that it always returns to it's ideals, as a protector of the constitution.
