It depends on your addiction. If you are addicted to nicotine, chances of breaking the habit is easier than certain drug addiction. For nicotine addiction like in cigarette smoking or nicotine patches, the dependence is all psychological, your mind tells you that something is missing, because it has been used to the high nicotine levels. In this case your mind develop urges, craving, demanding you to return the addiction back. But if you are addicted to drugs like morphine, barbs, meth.. they affect both of your psychological and physiological processes, and this time the body shows signs of physical dependence, you feel pain, breathing difficulty, concentration problems and all. These addictions are the worst and probably need the upmost medical attention.

It's controllable. Depends on the addiction and the method used, but in most cases, it's not curable but controllable.

Yes medical sutff can cure and addiction, and make it go away. But over all you have to be willing to stop and give it up.
tell you self you need to stop, if its hurting you think of everyone you will lose if it kills you.

it can be treatable and controllable, but not cured... the addiction will always be there, but there is ways you can deal with it.. recovery is a life-long process.
