I am also outraged by your story.

However there any many factors to take into consideration:

1) the young men may still be sued civilly and forced to pay a large sum of money that will most likely cripple them financially for the rest of thier lives

2) the courts treat first time offenders less harshly- realizing that even good people make mistakes

3) Sometimes the prosecution would have a very low percentage change of getting a conviction if the charges went to trial. So the prosecution offers a plea deal (often far less than the suspects deserve) to ensure that the suspects will get SOME type of punishment.

This is the first I hear of it. This comes from teachers not being able to discipline students(spank). Parents spank their children, all kids need rules and guidelines. This trend was started with my generation, we wanted our children to have it easier then we did. We taught that happiness come with things but some did not learn to give love just things. I don't know if I am making myself understood. We have to get back to basics discipline starts at home. We have to go after the courts and the law, making the parents responsible for what their child does. It is to late to help in this case.
The case in Missouri is different the parents are ones who taunt this little girl to the point she killed herself.

Shame on this guys but lately if you notice drug dealers get more time in jail then murderers and child molesters. I'm not surprised!!! The system is very unfair!!!
