I work in the chemical industry as a planner. The foreign guys we have had in from the employment Agency we use have had far more application and interest in the job they are on. 2 Czech guys and another African guy. The locals we have used have been lazy basta###! No wonder why employers use immigrant staff. Right person in the right job and i could not give a monkeys whether they are black, gay, foreign or poor.

The BNP run with this sort of attitude, Brittish jobs for Brittish workers. Do they know half are lazy sods!

If they are paying thier taxes, being legal and are friendly, non violent people wanting a better opportunty I dont care who they are.
The problem people see with immigrants is the ones who dont do this and unfortunatley some will put them all in the same cateogory

To generalise on application of work for either the local workers or immigrant workers would be stupid, I am sure many have had experiences on both sides of the coin. However, to say that the immigrant work-force is keeping the locals pay-checks lower than their increasing bills would not be such a stupid statement at all.

I cannot blame those coming over to better themselves. I only wish that they would become British citizens, rather than living 20 to a house (in some cases) and sending vast amounts of money back to their homeland. They do not call themselves British and the majority do not intend to ever stay. But hey, must be nice to have all the services of NHS etc. without ever paying eh.

I do not agree that the BNP is the way forward. However, the government seem blind (as with Nativity in schools, Christianiophobia or w/e is was called until recently) to the point that the more they isolate British people and promote foreign values, the more likely that the extremist views will use that which is being created for them by the government.

10 years ago I would of found it all amazing, now it is the norm. But when those in power are as if Canute and the sea, there is little that surprises.

This is such a difficult subject for me because i'm completely divided in my feelings.

I believe we have far too many immigrants here in the UK and we need to stop any more coming in BUT also i totally agree with you.

The job centre in my area has loads of jobs, all unskilled, basic wage or there abouts and everyone i have spoken to on the dole around here says there are no jobs!!!

The immigrants are willing to these jobs, they are happy to take minimum wage and sometimes this is all small businesses can afford to pay staff until they are profitable.

My friends had some Polish guys fit a kitchen for him and it's one of the best jobs i have EVER seen. (i used to work in the business)

The finish and attention to detail was outstanding and yet, it wasn't that expensive compared to some quotes he had.
They turned up every day on time, never slacked off and worked at a rate that most british wouldn't dream of doing.

I fear many people have had it too easy for too long and now want to cherry pick jobs even when they are unemployed.

I also think that the protection laws for employees are too strong, a company has to go through an awful lot before they can get rid of the lazy and shoddy workers.
Many just don't care about the work they do because they know it's so hard and such a long process for an employer to sack them.

Cut the benefits for the long term unemployed, give employers the right to release staff who don't do the job right and then let's see what happens.

(can i just add i will never ever vote bnp, they are hyjacking the current situation and they are not the answer)

There are more than 1 million immigrant workers in the UK either working legally or illegally. And saying that the British are lazy is a racist statement within itself. You say the BNP has an attitude, yet you have this limited intelligence to generalise British workers as being lazy. Hey you could join the BNP.

PS it was actually Gordon Brown that said British jobs for British workers. So there goes your unfounded rant without substance regarding the BNP.

The reason so many immigrants are given jobs ahead of the people already here is 2 things, firstly they can employ these people at the fraction it costs to pay a Briton, secondly immigrants are not clued up with employment law as we are, so we know when we are being bound over a barrel and are prepared to fight it, immigrants know nothing about British employment law and continue to be exploited.

1 million. Sounds like a big number right? It's less than 2% of the population.

I think we do need to work on how we make the most of the population we have. Sure some people whose families have been English as long as England has existed (not as long as some seem to think) are lazy and workshy, and expect opportunities to land in their laps. But these people are all our problems.

I don't blame you for employing migrants, or the migrants for coming here and working hard. But the situation could and should be improved.

Yeah and what are you going to when they undercut your job, you don't care right know because your alright, pay some poor b*st*rd from the third world a pittance, get them from an agency so the usual work place benefits don't apply. You don't care about your country and the way its heading, that's great for you as long your making money, why not reintroduce slavery ?. These stories about British workers being lazy is rubbish just another excuse to pay people a pittance, look at the unemployment figures the most likely people to be unemployed are Afro Caribbean and Bangladeshi the descendants of previous waves of "hard working immigrants".

People like you seriously rile me. You are sitting there slating your own kin folk for being lazy on the basis of one or two yokels who were probably there while studying at looniversity to get a bit of extra cash. Look at the figures; of 2.1 million new jobs created, 1.4 million of those have gone to foreign workers, that leaves 700,000 new jobs for indigenous folk, or a third. What sort of hope or future do you expect our children to have when companies like yours are employing two foreigners for every 1 indigenous person. First and foremost the quango you quote is from Gordon Brown, not the BNP so please get your research straight as you are just showing your own ignorance of politics and current events! By your reckoning (and I'd love to call that into question) half of us are lazy sods; and what about the other half who are not? Should we be expected to labour away on minimum wage in skilled jobs because there is an influx of migrant workers attracted by government hand outs and benefits - the very tax money the government I pay each week!! What of the half that are lazy sods, should we just accept that they are lazy and hand them benefits, or maybe just maybe we should make these people work, get employers to invest in their staff a little and let society reap the rewards instead of just importing a quick fix solution and diluting the very essence of what britain is. We are in a position where university graduates are competing with each other, along with the armies of foreigners, for a job to serve me my morning coffee from starbucks because they have the degree but no experience, so what do we do - we import that experience.
My experiences have been far different from you, my experiences are with mainly polish workers and I have found that, when they stay more than one day, the younger polish workers are more lazy and awkward than the local asbo bearing youths, often hiding behind 'language barriers' which are lifted at the first hint of pay negotiations. You are seriously deluding yourself if you think that employers are using migrant staff for anything other than exploitation as they keep their overheads down and are prepared to work insane amounts of hours to make their wage up, sometimes endangering the public to do so.
The only thing I agree with in your statement is the part that says the right person in the right job - be they black, gay, foreign or poor. It's just a shame you forgot to mention straight, white, heterosexual or indigenous aswell. By buying into, and spreading, these archaic stereotypes you come across to me as blatantly racist towards your kinfolk and the only comfort I can take is the knowledge that sooner or later you will be bitten on the back side by your own views and replaced by a czech, pole, african or some other poor soul who will be just as qualified as you and willing to do your job for minimum wage.

What about the other half, the ones who are not "lazy sods" who are being denied jobs in their own country because you are giving them to the floods of migrants who are coming here?

Do you think we have enough jobs for all the "non-lazy" British workers AND half of Eastern Europe?

I am South African but have a British mother so have a British Passport. I was stunned in the second job I had - the actually accused me of not being able to do my job because I got to the office at 9am not 9.30am! I have never worked at a firm that has complained about someone being at work early. Crazy.
