No.

There are serious problems with hydrogen cars. The main one is how to get the hydrogen fuel. The only efficient way we have of getting hydrogen now is from natural gas, but the process releases as much CO2 as burning gasoline, so there's no benefit.

Theoretically you can get hydrogen from water, but you have to break the atomic bonds first, and this requires a ton of energy. Far more than you will get out by burning the hydrogen for fuel. So unless we can figure out a way to weaken these bonds, this won't work.

If we do solve the problem of how to get hydrogen in an environmentally friendly manner, we still need a way to transport and store it for cars to refuel. Such infrastructure would cost billions of dollars.

The infrastructure for electric cars is already in place - the electric grid. Plus they're already far more environmentally friendly than gas cars and even hybrids, as this study shows:

In the distant future hydrogen cars may catch or surpass electric cars, but for at least the next few decades EVs are far better.

hydrogen fuel cells are just a way of storing electric - they are electric cars. Electric cars, including hybrids, will accelerate better than infernal combustion because they give max torque from 0rpm.

It is just that instead of sending the electric direct to your socket at home or work, or from your home generator; the electric is used to produce hydrogen, the hydrogen is shipped via a new tanker or pipe network (note hydrogen is bulky and escapes easily) to a distribution point where you can fill up for the fuel cell to convert back.

Batteries like A123 are better at delivering high current and safer in a crash than current fuel cells eg http://www.killacycle.com
and use cheaper less rare materials

Modern batteries can be recharged in 10 minutes, enough for a 200 mile range (and if you don't have a 10 minute break every 200miles that is irresponsible) http://www.altairnano.com/markets_energy_systems.html

I have driven a prototype of hydrogen car recently. It was developed by IIT,the car is yet to be evaluated by Govt and licence pending. It is based on liquid nitrogen. It is having more power than electric car. There is no costly replaceable and cumbersome batteries. It does not go beyond 70 kmp.The initial picup is slow.Driving is comfortable.

Many chemical compounds in electric powered batteries are very risky to the ambience. have you ever considered a warning on battery programs to no longer touch batteries that have leaked out the chemical compounds? they are able to be especially poisonous. additionally, the heavy metals utilized in batteries will ultimately finally end up interior the trash and basically isn't particularly biodegradable. additionally, electric powered batteries are no longer useful sufficient to compete with gas. you need to value your automobile for hours to get it to run for an afternoon. that's the reason might automobile businesses have created "hybrids" which use the two gas and electrical energy, so as that the great quantities of capability released from gas could make up for the inefficiency of electric powered batteries. (a minimum of, with the technologies we've at present, electric powered automobiles are inefficient) The hydrogen gasoline cellular, on the different hand, is plenty greater useful. greater importantly, that's extremely clean. The reaction happening in a hydrogen gasoline cellular yields in user-friendly terms water. Hydrogen and Oxygen molecules launch capability whilst they combine to style water (H2O), which isn't detrimental in any respect to our ecosystem. particularly, many scientists are desirous to suitable the hydrogen gasoline cellular to be utilized in area trip, the place water created by potential of the gasoline cellular could be used to assist the astronauts. although, with the constrained technologies we've at present, electrical energy as a ability source is plenty greater available and life like. yet as quickly as the hydrogen gasoline cellular is perfected and made into huge use, it is going to very much benefit anybody, besides because of the fact the ambience.

When released, water becomes a greenhouse gas.
Nitrogen cars are the true zero emissions cars. The by product is Nitrogen (78% of air)
