Many of the tools in the toolbox have multiple tools under the same button. Look for the little black arrow in the bottom right corner. If it is there, then there are more tools underneath.

Click the tool button and hold until a fly-out menu appears with all the tools available. Slide out and select the tool you want, then let go of the mouse. Paint bucket and gradient tool share the same spot.

Short cut key to change between these is Shift + G.
