Why, when somebody says "Excuse me, could I just squeeze past you?" do we move out of the way? The person has said that they wanted to squeeze past - why do we deny them that pleasure?

Asking to "squeeze" past is not a request for frottage.
It is a request to for permission to pass by you. But rather than a simple, polite "excuse me" it carries a warning that if you do not move then the person is willing to make bodily contact in order to pass by.

Because they know that the chances are that even if you move up they will still have to squeeze past. The alternative is perhaps to ask you to shift your big fat backside out of the way. I'm sure you would not like that

The ask if they can squeeze past because they are not sure if they can fit. So being polite we move to allow more room.

Because it's not going to be pleasurable for us so we have the right to decide not to let them.
