gee you have had some really bad and unkind answers here on this one havent you.Dont take any notice of them.
Its good that you have been able to recognize the fact that things are getting too much for you to deal with and that you need help b4 its too late.
personally i have tried to suicide a few times not sucessfully thankgoodness.
one thing i would like to say is stay away from any substances...alcohol...rec drugs*(i am not saying that you do this but ot makes things much worse and stops your mind from thinking clearly)
When you are starting to feel down and depressed call some one whether it be a friends or family member or an emergancy number.
Find the things that you do enjoy....if you are suicidal because you are angry or sad or frustrated go for a big walk muttering how much life can suck on the way....this will get rid of a lot of pent up execess energy.
Make sure that the music that you are inclined to listen to does not make you feel sad and depressed....this can get your mind thinking negatively.
Scream in a pillow
Punch a pillow
Ansd if all that fails
you may contact me via nickname to chat some more about this.
Also if your treatment for mental illness is not working then you need to speak to the professionals that are involved with you as if you are recieving treatment and you are feeling suicidal then you are right your treatment is not being acessed properly and you need to talk about that and get it out in the open that you feel it is not working.
Good luck

A person that has feelings about suicide should go and see a doctor.
Most people that have these feelings suffer from a mental illness such as depression and Bi-Polar disorder.
It is NOT their fault. It is an illness.
There is a site:www.suicide.org that has some useful information.
If this question is concerning yourself it is important that you get help now. Right now.
Call 1-800-suicide or
1-800-talk to speak to someone right now.

So many people don’t understand the motivation towards taking your own exit. Some of those think it’s just selfish, often without understanding the sum of that person’s life experiences.

But the peace it offers can be overwhelming, you can’t just escape that or your self by talking to someone, moving house, changing school or job or a myriad of other tactics I have seen suggested. You just have to decide if you want to pay the cost or not.

Fight the fight, hang in there a day at a time and see what happens in life.

Clarify your question: Do you mean how do you stop a friend from committing suicide? Or how do you stop yourself from committing suicide?

Desire to commit suicide is because of the feelings of despair.. Loneliness.. Helplessness.. and most of all, Hopelessness. So to stop a friend or yourself, help the person realize that something can be done to make things better, that they're not alone, and that you're there to listen and to help. All they really need is somebody to listen to them and to let them know that they are loved and that everyone wants him or her to be okay and happy. If a practical solution can be given to that person's problem, then that's even better. That means, the problem can and will be solved -- therefore hope that something CAN be done.

Most importantly, SEEK HELP. If it's more immediate, call 911 or equivalent services. If you're contemplating it, tell a friend or call a hotline. See a psychotherapist who can help you rebuild yourself.

Please do not hurt those who love you by doing such a thing. While suicide may end the pain of your existence it will cause a great deal of pain for others. I hope that whatever is upsetting you can be dealt with in a satisfactory way my friend.

Please if you are considering suicide tell somebody right away.

Hello!
People think by taking the easy way out it will solve their problems.
Life on this earth is a drop in the bucket compared to eternity.
None of us get through life without challenges,it is called the Angelic conflict.
Sometime one needs to give self a stern talking to and pull out of the self pity which is self destructive.
It begins with your own mental attitude which only you can change.
No one can walk your path for you ,you have to walk it yourself.
Ask yourself do I want to be a loser or a winner in my journey through this world.?
You can get on with the business of living and make something of yourself.
It is up to you.
Jesus Christ said Math11:28-29"Come unto Me all you who are tired and weary and I will give you rest, take My yoke upon you and learn from Me for I am meek and humble in spirit and you shall find rest for your soul.
It is a mental peace not of this world.
God Bless!
Have a merry Christmas.

you cant stop them, you can help them by referring them to a professional.

suicide is so final, that's it, gone, finished over. I wish people didn't feel like there was no way out and its the end of the line.

hope your friend soon feels better. nothing lasts and feeling suicidal should only be a temporary measure, unless there is a mental illness.

think rationally and see light at the end of the tunnel that things aren't as s*hitty as they seem to be. family and friends would need to consult the suicidal person and they should be taken off medication if any and be put in counseling

Call a suicide hotline or go online, there are hotlines you call use. Do you mean stopping yourself? Or stopping someone else? Stopping yourself is easier. You can talk to someone and get treatment. Stopping someone else is way harder.
