It might be bad or might not. The best thing is to contact the vet & check with him/her if its ok to go ahead with the surgery.

Just let your vet staff know when and how many treats (and how big the treats were) she got when you drop her off. They may want to postpone the surgery to another day or just put it off a few more hours. If the surgery is scheduled for later in the morning or the amount and size of the treats she ate is small they may not do anything other than take extra precautions.

Dogs need to be fasted (no food) for 12 hours prior to surgery so that their stomachs are empty. Anesthesia prevents a dog's natural reflexes from performing their necessary (and often life-saving) functions. If there is food in the stomach and the dog vomits while under anesthesia, there is a risk that the dog will aspirate the vomitus into the lungs, which could cause the dog to literally drown in their own vomit or, more likely, to develop pneumonia.

You should definitely let your vet know and to be honest, any responsible vet and dog owner would postpone surgery till the next day at least. I mean what's the rush, why can't the surgery wait till the next day??

I think the reasons are the same as those for humans, they are concerned that the food might still be in the stomach and might move to other places.

I don;t know why you are asking this on here when you could simply speak to your vet about it by giving them a phone call? The vet nurse will be able to tell you- why risk relying on incorrect answers here when you can ask a qualified professional?

In summary- you must tell the vet and postpone the surgery. Though good on you for doing the right thing and getting your dog desexed!

It's the same for animals as it is for humans. They like for both to have empty stomachs so the anesthesia doesn't make the person/animal sick afterwords. You need to tell your vet.

My one canines didnt eat an entire meal for some days after his neuter. i think of its ok as long because of the fact the canines is ingesting and hydrated. in case you're relatively apprehensive basically pass to the vet. interior the interim.. examine her gums, they must be purple. in the event that they're white it ought to point she is in marvel or nonetheless improving from the anesthetic. If she is dehydrated you could tell by potential of pinching various the floor on the decrease back of her neck and seeing how briskly it snaps decrease back into place. If it takes a together as to loosen up, she ought to be dehydrated. with a bit of luck in case you basically shop her heat and he or she gets a robust nights sleep she would be ready to sense greater desirable interior the morning. all the suitable
