People don't understand it (myself included). It doesn't seem "natural" because the whole point of intercourse existing in nature is to create babies. Many see them as sex maniacs who completely disregard the value of traditional family life and abstinence. Also the AIDS epidemic in the gay community and the downright strange effeminate behavior exhibited by some does more to widen the gap between gays and traditionalists. We are afraid of the unfamiliar.
The key concept that everyone needs to get their head around is that it does not cause harm to anyone. Therefore we have no reason to impose our will into their personal life. People need to realize that homosexuals are regular people with values and moral judgments similar to any other group. There are plenty of behaviors and practices around the world that don't make sense to us, but if it does no harm then there's no reason to demonize it.

People that are used to my answers here may be very suprised at this one . I am an Atheist and LGBT rights supporter .BUT in some cases ( just as in some cases of obsessive heterosexual drive ) Lesbian and Gay drives may indicate a problem of post traumatic stress disorder and this needs to be dealt with for the persons well being . I think Rosie O'Donnell is an example of this as is Michael Jackson . Usually after help with that problem the people are more open to bisexuality ,and less inclided to obsessive relationships ( for example Rosie seems to seek out women let down by men and in need of a strong woman ( mother substitute ) figure .
german X-man ... But they can have fun !
Gamar ... Homosexuality doesn't CREATE HIV . You need to do some bio research . I can help to spread it as did transfusions . Also in Africa it is often spread by the superstion that an AIDS infected man can rid himself of the virus by having sex with a girl who in under 9 years old .Some believe that this was a cure set forth by the Muslim prophet Mohhad .The use of condoms is evil is another superstition that leads to the spead in Africa .It is mostly contact with Christians that led to that superstion . Most of the AIDS in Africa is spread by Heterosexual contact. And while AIDS is on the rise for Homosexual men in the US it is actually still decreasing for those who do not use anal penetration .
laguna8 ... The effeminate behavior you talk about is often "boyish" behavior mistaken for true feminine behavior .(Think Michael Jackson .) Also sometimes males with a gender disorder problem choose to be in the gay lifestyle rather than the more difficult to deal with Transgendered lifestyle .

It's not wrong. Plain & Simple.
Despite your request to not use religion as an excuse, you will still probably get 40 people quoting the bible as reason why they think it's wrong. It also says things about how many slaves you can own, that polygamous marriage is OK, and that it's a sin to eat meat you didn't kill with your bare hands, but somehow bigots conveniently forget those things, and just extract what they need to back up their feeble insecurities.
Unfortunately this is one of those issues where the planet is very divided, and using logic and compassion doesn't change anyone's mind.
In 20-40 years we will look back on the issues surrounding homosexuality & gay marriage much like we now look back on women & blacks getting to vote, or inter-racial marriage.

I want bring religious beliefs into this; because so many religions judge everybody for various sins. Judge not less u be judged. I just don't want anything pushed on my family. I don't push my ideas or beliefs on your life and therefore you should respect my space also. I don't want my children to see to gay guys or girls kissing and foundling each other AS well as hold on a minute I also don't want to them to see what we call a normal couple kissing and foundling in public either. Anything in public that goes OVERBOARD is gross no mater what the sexes!!!!

Before I answer your question I will say that I am religious, and do generally disagree with homosexuality. However, I will say that the only problem that I think homosexuality has nothing to do with religion. It has to do with conformity, hence the problem is not with homosexuals, it has to do with the rest of society who tries to play GOD and judge people when they lack knowledge. I.E. its wrong because society says its wrong. And yes there are scriptures which discourage homosexuality, but none of it gives humans the right to judge our fellow man.

Outside of religion, there's not a single good explanation (that can't be refuted with facts) as to why it's "wrong".
I personally don't see what the big deal is....
EDIT: Hey "Last Ent"....I looked over your post and your sources are biased. If they're funded by religious organizations or have pastoral counselors on their board....which way would you expect their informational bias to go???? Some of them even quote from information that's over a decade old. How much have we learned since then????
EDIT 2: You also post sources that are very one sided....when you look at all the things gay men are doing that are "wrong", without comparing those statistics to the same activities amongst heterosexual couples....then that's not a very fair comparison as to the threat one group poses when compared to another group.

Well, some people say that it causes (minor) health problems (mostly anal...) and that it's counter-evolutionary because gay people don't reproduce... But that doesn't make something wrong! Really, it isn't wrong. I think the most logical system of ethics is utilitarianism, and according to that there's nothing wrong with homosexuality. It makes the people involved happier than they would be if they couldn't fulfill their sexual needs, and doesn't harm anyone else. People who think it's wrong really just need to mind their own business.

I don't really want to touch this topic, but I'll say that just the sense of something not being normal may in some situations make it seem wrong.

It throws off the natural order of things...homosexual couples cannot reproduce, which seem that very nature has a problem with that type of relationship. Also, the fact that American government is not set up to deal with this (marriages arent legal) it causes more harm than good to the couple to try to go against the flow of society. Also, sodomy in general isn't a good idea. It is gross and dangerous. So religion aside, science, government, and normal bodies are problems when dealing with homosexuality.
