People claim to not believe in God because it is “not scientific” or “because there is no proof.” The true reason is that once people admit that there is a God, they also must realize that they are responsible to God and in need of forgiveness from God. If God exists, then we are accountable for our actions to Him. If God does not exist, then we can do whatever we want without having to worry about God judging us. I believe that is why evolution is so strongly clung to by many in our society - to give people an alternative to believing in a Creator God. God exists and ultimately everyone knows that He exists. The very fact that some attempt so aggressively to disprove His existence is in fact an argument for His existence. This universe and everything in it is an effect. There must be something that caused everything to come into existence. Ultimately, there must be something “un-caused” in order to cause everything else to come into existence. That “un-caused” something is God.......

However, the existence of God cannot be proven or disproved. The Bible even says that we must accept by faith the fact that God exists, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). If God so desired, He could simply appear and prove to the whole world that He exists. But if He did that, there would be no need for faith. "Then Jesus told him, 'Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed'” (John 20:29).

No, can anyone prove by example there IS a god? Where does the burden of proof lie? You say their is a thing, you don't know what it is, you've never seen it, smelled, or touched it. Further, no one you have ever, or will ever has either. No one they have ever known has either. NO ONE has any evidence to support the existence of this thing you can't even describe outside a vague book, written by men of great power who conspired to selectively assemble a book you call a bible, leaving out books that didn't agree with version they wanted the ignorant people of their time to buy. So, my question is why must I prove he doesn't exist when considering the things i've mentioned it quite certainly would appear to any rational person, that is capable of applying any significant level of logic to the question, that the "thing" we speak of doesn't exist?

Well, philosophers and theologians have been dealing with that one for a while. You could start with Liebniz, who made a career out of proving the existence of god. Although I believe in the gods (I am polytheistic), I don't think there's any proof of them in the scientific sense of the word 'proof.' And that's precisely the point. For if spirituality could be reduced to the scientific method, then it would cease to be spiritual. Science and spirituality are beautiful modes of understanding, elaborate ways of dealing with what and who we are, and even if they overlap on certain levels, they are in the end quite different forms of knowledge.

Nope. They can only offer their opinions. No person alive can disprove the existence of a God, and the last man who really tried, ended up finding God instead of disproving him. Funny, huh? (Christian Scientist). Here are some useful links. Supporting the concept of creationism is becoming increasingly more, than disproving it.

If anyone needs science, you can easily find supportive science. Many people just don't want to see it, because too many people have spent too much time trying to disprove the concept of creation or a God.

I have evidence that God doesn"t exist- just look at current events.

Millions are starving, dying from disease, rotting in poverty, become victims of natural disasters, are sold into sex slavery- or just slavery in general-, have their basic human rights squashed, and die in senseless wars every day. I can guarantee that most or all of those people pray or prayed daily, begging for thier "God" to save them.

What did they get? Squat. Did God give them food, cure their illness, or save them in any other way? No.

This alone brings the idea of a God crashing to its knees, for if God is really bursting with love and compassion for his creation, there would be no suffering in the world. Conversly, if God doesn"t give a darn about his creation...well, he"s not much of a god, is he?

As Epicurus says: "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Than he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Than he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Than whence cometh evil? Is he neither able or willing? Than why call him God?"

Friendly note: This is not meant to offend anyone- just to offer a different viewpoint. :D Just thought I"d better clarify before someone bites my head off..... :p Which, by the way, is not something I should be worried about while posting on VOY; but with the way certain members have been acting.....

Well, that"s a rant for a different thread....;)

No. Not even Dawkins (peace upon him) can do that, although he tries, unsuccessfully in my view, to show that God is 'very unlikely'.

You can't show there is a God either.

'Proof' of course means 'test' (as in 'The proof of the pudding is in the eating'). God is 'proved' by testing him in one's life. If the test is successful (and how you identify that is a matter for debate) then God is 'proved'.

Proving that no god or spirits exist is impossible. People can use the negative proof arguement, that there is no proof to support existance. ( but it does -not prove- there is no spiritual world.)

Very few things in this world has proof. And it is impossible to not prove something or in this case prove something is not true. Can anyone prove that I don't have a purple alien puppy? No body can prove it.

It is almost impossible to prove a negative as I'm sure the questioner is well aware, however, no one has ever demonstrated one single piece of evidence of any kind to prove that the converse is true.

Can't prove God from existence.

Acts 14
15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness
