in terms of death toll, the practice of slavery, racism etc...i'd say the European Colonialists would definately be the greatest Savages of the Millenium

garwy: u sound like a holocaust denier...are u a pro-nazi hilly billy?
btw...I said 'European Colonialists', I didn't say Europe. I meant the colonialists who came from there and started murdering innocents by the millions (and even more) and commiting genocide every where they went, just for the sake of greed, land and power. And after all that they talk of 'democracy and liberty'...oh puhleese...

Mr Truthseeker - u r the biggest propaganda machine. ur problem is that you dont love humans and u want to turn lies into truth but u can not. jewish are still living with muslims peacefully in islamic world, tell me about israel jails and how muslims are treated there. tell me how many non muslims are in guantanamo, in Bangladesh living urdu speaking people in camps and nobody care about them. don't forget what mukti bahani has done. this is a new lie about the armenians. this is the same kind of lies what the jews blame germans about holocaust. why don't u talk about mayas and incas. why dont u tell us about millions of native americans who were killed. talk about the english in Indian and africa, the dutch who killed in Java and other colonies. why didn't u talk about the hundreds of millions of people who were killed after the first gulf war till now. ur hate against islam destroys urself and people of similar school of thought like u. read better books and don't tell us here silly lies. I don't care about people like u but there are children reading here.. u r not for peace. don't forget, how many muslims were killed every year in non islamic world for e.g india, kenya, russia, kashmir, palestine. read information from turkey not only from the other side. read about UNO reports about muslims living in camps all over the world, for e.g Bangladesh, Afghanistan etc. and why are they living in camps? who bring about the war? read about holocaust carefully. don't make islam an industry. thank u.
the worst empire in history is the british empire and dutch empire. and spanish empire. don't forget Alexandra the mass murderer. roman empire before u talk about islam.
there's a lot of people in our world whose fridges are full, minds are empty and genitals itch. u know, jesus said, we must share this planet with the damned and morally broken people. and we are doing it. dont worry..we have too much patience, not that i'm saying muslims are better than other people. but the history of christianity and jews are full of cruelty, mass murder and violence. islam can not measure up to it. islam is peace. It was European Colonialism mixed with religious (Christianity) zeal. The natives of South America, nowadays referred to as Latin America which suffered in particular at the hands of the Conquistadors. In the period between the middle ages c1100 with the Crusades through to the tragedies of the two World Wars and the genocides, I would estimate that about 12 million people lost their lives due to "European Colonialism"

Unknowable.
Among Native Americans alone, you'll get wildly different answers depending on estimation methods. On one hand, you can trust the journals of the conquistadors and colonists themselves, but there's always the risk that they overstate the carnage, because they were generally boasting.
You can use archeology to guess the size of villages destroyed, but historians usually just have to assume one village is about the same size as other similar villages.
Plus you have to decide whether secondary problems, like disease, are included in your estimate.
Anyway... You should probably ask in history. But I think the answer is, no one knows what the ballpark would have been.

Fifi, you're racist then? You go by popular idea. What about Native American tribes stealing land from one another and some tribes (such as the Mayans) cutting the heads off of members of other Native tribes, stealing their land, raping and killing their women and children, et cetera. Yup, us Euro's must be the only ones!
What about guys like Attila the Hun! He must look like a cuddly little puppy compared to us, huh?
What about African slavery? Africans were slaves on their own continent by their own people before European Americans decided to jump in, and not all Euro's or Euro Americans agreed with it. So, while many Europeans OPPOSED slavery, and many European Americans opposed slavery, many Africans in Africa were all for it, and sold their people like they were nothing. Way to generalize an entire continent or group of people ;-)
Oh, and as far as colonists go, what about the rest of us Euro Americans who have no ancestry to America's original colonies?... Look at my family genealogy, we're not related! We came over from Europe long after that.

Pretty high, really; but not appreciably different than the 'natives' were inflicting on one another to start with.
Fun facts:
* There are more Aborigines in Australia today than were present when Europeans first arrived.
* There are more 'persons of Native American descent' in the United States today than there were 'Indians' on the continent in 1492. (The Caribbean, lacking a source of repopulation, has not fared so well.)
*There are more 'natives' and persons of native descent in Mexico today; than the total of *all* people in both North and South American before the Europeans arrived.

when european settlers first arrived in sub-saharan africa the country was largely empty (with the exception of the litoral empires of west-africa, whose wealth was largely built on slaving). such populations as there were were isolated, poor, ravaged by disease, and had made no significant progress for thousands of years. (the great zimbabwe empire rose and fell without ever making significant contact with any developed nation, or spreading its technical and social sophistication to any society around it).
the great power in southern africa was shaka's zulus - a war-based society operating the same way the spartans did.
most of sub saharan africa now has cities with piped water, hospitals, emergency services, the rule of law, and democracy most of the time.
you obviously have issues with black people achieving a decent standard of life.
keep them to yourself.

Your point? Do you have a problem with my ancestors?
EDIT: I am an American of European descent, if you can't tell by my picture. I'll let you in on a secret: everyone has ancestors with blood on their hands. Don't be holding a grudge now just because my ancestors got the upper hand and dominated.

Islam is the greatest genocide machine in all human history.
