sadly this is the opinion that many of the fundies have, but you have to keep in mind some people are christian generally because it is their opinion of a good way of life, not all of them preach to us

If you mean Christians, no it's not smartness, it's because we prefer the light to darkness. We have no fear of our own darkness being exposed by the light.
