I know a few tips but not sure if any of them work.
So far I've heard things like
1.) getting a trim every 6 months
2.) hot oil treatments
3.) prenatal vitamins

My 2 questions are 1.) What good will any of the above do?? and 2.) Is there anything ELSE i can do in addition to the above to help with hair growth?? Please help me out. I appreciate.

...it seems like the more often you trim your hair, the longer it takes for it to get long...

Hair grows an average of 1/2" per month. Less for some people, and more for others. Women's hair tends to grow longer, and faster than mens. It is based on genetics, and there is nothing we can do to change that. However, there are things that you can do to keep it growing at its maximum potential.
- Eat healthy, well balanced meals.
- Massage your scalp with your fingertips for 5-10 minutes each and every day. Its better if you have someone do this for you, but will work just the same if you do it yourself. Anyway, by massaging your scalp, you are stimulating blood flow to the scalp area. Increased blood flow mean more nutrients are delivered to the scalp. More nutrients means a healthier scalp. And, a healthy scalp means healthier, and faster growing hair.
- The purpose of a trim is to remove damaged hair tips. For some people, that may mean every six weeks, others may go 4-6 months between trims. Whatever the case with you, don't get a trim unless you need it. There is no need to go every 4-6 weeks if you don't need to because you are just cutting off the hair that you were trying to grow in the first place. Avoid scissor-happy stylists. Make sure that when you get a trim that they only remove the damage, and no more than that. A lot of stylists just don't listen, and that can be a real problem.
- To help prevent damage in the first place, be extra careful when your hair is wet. It is particularly prone to damage when its wet. Always use a wide tooth comb to de-tangle it, and do so very gently. Never use a brush on wet hair.
- Avoid heat if possible. This causes damage. I am talking about blow dryers, curling irons, flat irons, and so on. If you must blow dry your hair, do so at a very low heat setting, and hold the blow dryer a good distance from your hair, and don't hold it still for any amount of time on your hair. Even then, only dry it until it is to a damp stage, and let it air dry from there.
The best policy is to avoid heating it at all by not using styling aids like blow dryers, curling irons and so on.
- Sprays, styling gels, and other products which contain alcohol will dry out your hair, and damage it. Avoid products with alcohol in them.

Hope this helps!

I do not know about vitamins or hot oil but I do know heat is not the best thing for your hair. You should only get a trim when you get split ends but even then it is not necessary it is just for looks. I do know eating healthy works along with not dyeing your hair. You don't want to curl, straighten, crimp or any thing else like that to your hair. You also want to treat your hair gently brush it lightly and do not brush more than necessary it puts excess stress on your hair. Use a mild shampoo some of the natural oils are good for your hair so you do want to keep some. I hear your not supposed to brush your hair when it is wet but it is the easiest time to.

Never fall for products that say they promote hair growth because most are gimmicks. Hair growth is based on genetics. Most herbal substances are also not regulated by the F.D.A. so you don't know if they contain the amount they say they do and you don't know if they have the effects that they claim. Avoid home remedies. No amount of eggs or mayonnaise will ever make your hair grow faster.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays.

P.s. Hair grows on average 6 inches a year so be patient.

6 MONTHS?!

Try every 6 weeks.

Answers:

1. Getting a trim every 6 weeks gets off dead ends, prevents the hair from splitting more since you have the ends off.
2. Hot oil. I wouldnt do that. I feel like it just greases and builds up on hair.
3. Prenatals make your nails and hair stronger and grow faster.

Aside from that, I wouldnt color your hair if you want it to grow faster because it can cause damage and break off.

Hope I helped.

One way i got my hair to grow quickly was by taking the skin, hair and nails vitamins called perfectil. If you want to make your hair to grow super fast consume a lot of vitamin B6 and eat lots of protein as hair is made up of protein. I am afraid the things you put onto your hair wont make it grow fast as hair grows from the root which is under the skin, so 1 & 2 wont work. 3 might give your hair a little boost though.

In fact, there's nothing you can do to make your hair grow any faster. The rate of hair growth is a function of genetics and there's not much you can do in that department. You just have to wait it out.
