Any dog could fit that description. You just have to raise it to be that way. I suggest that you get a dog from your local shelter, one that was raised with children in its previous home, or get a puppy and give it love, and it will be loving, good natured and friendly in return. You have to be the one to train him or her, no puppy is just naturally obedient without without any training.

Boxer's are great with children. They are very very friendly, smart as, easy to train, obedient, they are great-natured and loving!!!! As long as you treat it well it will be the best dog for your kids and you!
If you are worried about the size then get it has a young puppy and then your children and the dog will grow to adapt the size of it.
Boxer's are the best dogs and after having one I will never turn back!!!! My friend has had boxer's all her life, at this day she has had 5!
Hope my advice is help full! The only thing is you will need a fair bit of backyard space for it to have when you are not home!
Seriously they are so friendly and I couldn't recommend and other dog to you!!!!

Always,
Jacinta

The "Nanny Dog". The American Pit Bull Terrier or the American Staffordshire Terrier. My Pits love everyone, even any stranger that comes to the house. They are really great with children. My daughter just moved back in with me, another story, and the Pits love my one year old grandson. They would never do anything to hurt him or let anyone else hurt him, they are protective dogs.
The Pit used to be the most popular family dog in the country. That all changes because of people not raising them right and made some of them mean, gangsters love to have a Pit to show how macho they are. Then the media loves a story about a Pit attacking someone. If it was a German Shepard that attacked, you will not read about in the paper.
Remember the "Our Gang", AKA "The Little Rascals", Peaty was a Pit Bull. There have Pits in the White House.
They are one of the most lovable dogs I have ever had in my 65 years and that is quite a few.

Although I love all dogs, Tibetan Spaniels are by far the BEST family dogs. I grew up with 2, and for kids they are WONDERFUL. They are never snippy, very loyal, and not too hyper. They are also gorgeous! I now have a Pomeranian, and although Poms are my favorite breed now, I honestly wouldn't recommend them for families with children. They are very hyper and can be snippy (although mostly in a playing way). I definitely recommend Tibbies (as they are called). Check out this website for more information www.tibbies.net/index.shtml Let me know what you decide on! :)

Collies or if size is a problem then get a sheltie(a mini collie) But Collies are all of the above. I've had 3 of them in my lifetime and they were the best dogs ever. If you don't like the hair they even have a smooth collie.

I believe any dog can be good with kids, they just have to be raised properly. I have an American Staffordshire/Rotti mix and he adores my kids! I also have a Shepard/St.Bernard mix and he is wonderful too. I do believe strongly that children need to be taught how to properly treat a dog though.

I also have two poms, and would not recommend them for families with children. I would go with a Border Collie or Lab. They are both wonderful family / children dogs.

i would say a lab. you want something that's not mean and is easy to train - and that's a lab. You can also call your local pound to see if they have any labs there - that way you can adopt and save a puppy!!

Usually if very young kids, better get big dogs. They may look big in size but soft in heart.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I've not had one myself as they are not my type of dog but I am told they make good family pets.
