send your children to school sick?
Like when they are contagious.
Its not fair to others.
Im sick because in HS teens parents don't care like they used to or force them to go to school no matter what.
I have a cold and may have mono for a second time. No I didnt kiss anyone to get it. I don't share my drinks with others. Im a cautious person. Yet in the end I still get screwed over.

Angelwhatever: I do the things I should to stay healthy, you don't even know me.
And Ive had mono before and caught it because some poor girl I worked with would take my drinks behind my back and drink them because she couldnt afford to buy any and she had mono and strep.
Im having the same symptoms as before. Sores in my mouth( luckily just one right now and swollen glands)

Actually, most viruses and bacterial infections are at their most contagious 3-4 days before symptoms appear, so you don't always know.
Sorry you have a cold, and I hope you don't have mono, try some honey and lemon.
Merry Christmas!

Cant answer this for everyone -
My son has Iga deficiency disorder - he is sick all the time and usually is the only one in the family who ends up getting sick.
If I kept him home every time his nose was runny he would never go to shcool.
Colds/virus are catchy before symptoms appear.
North america needs better daycare resources and sick day leaves for parents to tend to ill children. I am sure that most minimum wage employees can not afford or even ask for a day off to take care of their child.
On that note
Hope you feel better soon....
It sucks being sick -

When I was in school, I had to have some kind of virus or something like that to stay out of school. Having a cold didn't get me out of school. You could only miss so many days before it started getting you afterschool makeup days where I live.
I think parents should keep their children out when they are throwing up or know they have lice, chicken pox, pink eye, etc. but for just a cold? absolutely not.
and if you don't share drinks and kiss people, you don't have mono.

Because in the end life goes on if your sick or not. A common cold should not be an excuse to not go to school. Something life threatening etc on the other hand and you should avoid being around any one. If you avoid your kids being around others when they have a cold, then when they are older and eventually get one if will knock you out for ages. It's natural for everyone to get at least 2 colds a year. I know you feel crap now, but you'll get over it in a few days or a week. Good luck I hope you feel better soon

lol then you dont have mono if you havent been sharing drinks or kissing others. so stop saying you do. you dont get sick because of what others do, you get sick because you dont do what you should to stay healthy. you cant stop kids from going to school sick so stop bitching about it. you can help teach them how to stop from spreading their colds. tell them to cover their mouths and noses with their bend in their elbows. make sure they use tissues and also go wash their hands after touching their nose or mouth. your complaing about the wrong thing here. kids have been going to school sick since school first started. if you cant stop that then you need to take on a new approach. bitching isnt gonna get you anywhere. and hey, teachers go to school sick too. sick parents come into the school for many reasons. visitors come to the school sick god knows how many times. when its the cold and flu season this isnt something you can avoid running into. the only thing you can do is be ready to ward it off.

I had mono in high school and was excused with my doctors note. On the other hand, my friends had to bring me all my school work. My mom did what she thought was right for me, and if my teachers were going to flunk me then she made me go. I wasn't going to flunk a course because someone else got me sick.
