Uh, okay. This is really random, but, I was wondering....
In a marriage ceremony, is the woman on the right, or the left?
Standing at the... altar thingy... lol.
Thanks!

the woman stands on the left of the altar as well as all of her guest while the man stands on the left with all of his guest...it was done this way in the old days bc most men were right handed and they used that had to handle all of their sword maneuvers...and up to the ceremony anyone could possibly go into the church and kidnap the bride...of course if they were left handed it would be the opposite...its up to you in the end but thats just the most traditional way

The woman always stands on the left. This dates back ages. That way a man may be able to protect his wife by being ready to pull his sword and defend her. And since you carry the sword in your right hand(most of the time) your woman stands on your left.

The bride stands to the left of the groom. The reason for this dates back to medieval times when the groom would possibly have to defend his bride with his sword--so he needed his right hand and side free to remove the sword from it's scabbard (on his left hip). *I saw that on Bridezillas once.

The left, as seen from the rest of the church. On the right, as seen by the pastor.

Left if facing the front, right if you are looking from the minister's perspective.

That I've seen, I think it's usually the left.

I have seen it done both ways, guy on left and guy on right. So I guess there's a choice.
